We recently had the chance to connect with Affton and learn how her company is pivoting in response to the current business climate.
Here's what she had to say:
"The traumatic impact of COVID-19 truly struck our company overnight. Being 99% B2B (Business to business) sales nationally, consisting of 900+ active independent boutique accounts as well as department stores, Broken Top saw a decrease and cancellation in sales pretty much overnight. This has caused us to focus our sales channels primarily on our more national accounts as well as D2C (Direct to Consumer) channels such as our own website, amazon, and retail sites such as Goodsey. We have also partnered with locally owned/operated Sudara, to support their online sales and mission to help free woman and children from s*x trafficing in India through the Sudara Freedom Fund (learn more by visiting www.Sudara.org). Though these times are difficult and uncertain, the opportunity to expand beyond our norm will be the true test to the company's success in the future as well as new and exciting endeavors. Our current momentum is to "run into the fear" with the support of our local friends, mentors, and supporters. ----- On a personal front, when I am not in the warehouse, I am home with my three kiddos (12,6,3) playing fort and buffing up on my cooking and laundry skills. In my spare time, I have launched a podcast with a local production guru, Matthew Hand with Hand in Hand Productions, interviewing local business owners, state employees, and mentors about the current state of our local and national economy.
