Excellent article. Another brilliant piece by S.E. Cupp

//Pence somehow thinks he can split the baby — lightly criticizing Trump to reingratiate himself with the Never-Trump crowd, while defending Trump to keep MAGA happy.

Except in trying to please everyone, he’s pleasing no one//

“We’re giving it consideration in our house — prayerful consideration.” That was former Vice President Mike Pence, telling ABC News last month that he’s contemplating a run against his former boss and the only entry in the 2024 presidential election thus far, Donald Trump, a man he served ...

Latest thoughts of S.E on "Back to school". As a parent herself, she reflects the thoughts of many parents which we all can relate to:

[Quote]It’s good that states and school districts are implementing rigorous health and safety measures to reduce the risk of COVID spread in the fall. But what we just don’t know is whether keeping kids safe at school will actually make some of them unhealthy.[UnQuote]

//

August is usually when we try to get one final vacation in, find fun ways to beat the heat, and take our last licks of summer. But this year, August is different. For those of us who have school-aged children, the potential return to class hangs over us; we count down the hours before the realities of a viral pandemic test us where it matters most.

The month feels both too long and too short — at once a giant chasm of unknowns during which everything can change, and an insufficient amount of time to prepare for such a daunting enterprise.

Since schools closed in March where I live, life has been a giant adjustment for my 5-year-old. It marked the end of classrooms, playgrounds, recess, singalongs, field trips, swim lessons, sports, fairs, camps, playdates and almost every other great thing that kids look forward to doing together.

Learning continued at home, but it was different, difficult and far less fun. We managed some responsible outdoor get-togethers with family and close friends that, because of distancing, proved more frustrating for him than enjoyable. He misses his friends and his teachers and is desperate to return to school.

But he won’t be returning to school as he knew it. And as I contemplate what life will be like for him if he does, I’m not so sure it will actually be better for him.

Schools around the country are putting in place their plans for reopening, many of which include things like daily temperature-taking, hourly handwashing, all-day mask-wearing, six-foot distancing, “isolation rooms” for kids who appear symptomatic, social interactions through plexiglass and teacher-led anxiety management exercises.

While all of that is well-intended and likely necessary to keep schools COVID-safe, it also frankly sounds like a dystopian hellscape that will make learning a terrifying if not wholly un-fun experience for my soon-to-be kindergartener.

Right now, we don’t talk much about COVID at home. My son knows people are sick and that’s why things are closed, but he’s never once feared that he or we will get sick. The virus is still very much, in his mind, a faraway villain.

But I worry that school, and its attentiveness to symptoms and safe practices, will bring fears about catching coronavirus right to his mental and psychological doorstep, where every interaction he has is fraught with awful possibilities.

Weighing that against the well-known psychological benefits to going to school (as well as the economic and social upsides) is an impossible and unanswerable exercise. While the CDC advises, “Important social interactions that facilitate the development of critical social and emotional skills are greatly curtailed or limited when students are not physically in school,” the school experience they are advocating now is one no school-aged child in America has ever been through.

Those unknowns are why some psychologists are worried.

Anne Glowinski, professor of child psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis, is less concerned about kids navigating the new rules than she is the adults adding to their anxieties.

“Kids can find games in everything,” she said of wearing masks and social distancing rules. “But what kids are most sensitive to is whether the adults around them are uncertain and scared. So when teachers get sick, or if some feel forced to be there, or when parents are overly worried, and adults just aren’t at their best, kids can react to that. All they want to know is that they will be okay and their family will be okay — and we aren’t sure about that.”

As hard as we’ve worked to physically keep COVID away, we’ve worked equally hard to keep it away from our kiddo’s psyche, which seems an impossible task once he goes back to school and it’s everywhere.

It’s good that states and school districts are implementing rigorous health and safety measures to reduce the risk of COVID spread in the fall. But what we just don’t know is whether keeping kids safe at school will actually make some of them unhealthy.

Trump's turnaround on masks was particularly notable. "If he's now behind wearing a mask and that encourages voters to wear them in states like Texas, Florida and Georgia, where the virus is spiking, this is very, very good news for the rest of us," wrote S.E. Cupp. "

Because he was ultimately responsible for turning mask-wearing into a culture war, and one of the dumbest, counterproductive, downright embarrassing ones of our lifetimes, he's ultimately the only one who can break that fever and knock some sense back into the mask-refusers."

https://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-oped-kanye-west-needs-help-20200721-fvvfx6lkxzejnhaojo35ewegmi-story.html

Back in October of 2018, music and fashion mogul Kanye West took a trip to the Oval Office, ostensibly to discuss criminal justice reform with the president. What happened instead was a three-ring circus in front of rolling cameras and millions of television viewers at home.

West veered from one unrelated topic to the next, while a slightly-uncomfortable President Trump sat looking on, at times trying to steer him back to the preferred goal for the public event (which was ultimately to praise Trump).

Some people found the spectacle amusing, others a wild kind of performance art by a publicity-starved “artiste,” not unlike the kinds of stunts Trump himself would pull before becoming president.

But I found it sad and deeply disturbing. Here was clearly an unwell man and a president who was willing to exploit his illness for the faint praise of a popular black celebrity. The whole thing made me queasy.

West’s been forthcoming about his mental illness and past episodes. He’s said he’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, has admitted to abusing painkillers, and says his wife Kim Kardashian’s robbery in Paris and his feud with friend and rapper Jay-Z contributed to a well-publicized 2016 nervous breakdown. To his credit, his open and frank discussions about his mental health have likely prompted many others to seek help for their own issues.

But knowing all that we do about West’s fragile mental state, his latest publicity stunt, a half-hearted run for president, feels all the more disturbing.

Initially, some speculated it was merely part of a ploy to promote a new album, given how rushed and unprepared the upstart “campaign” is.

Others believe it’s actually a form of spiritual proselytizing, inspired by his proposed “running mate,” a “Biblical Life Coach” named Michelle Tidball, who lives near West in Wyoming.

Others still think it’s merely entertainment. One Twitter user posted of his first rally, “I went for a laugh and I got one,” before leaving offended.

But it’s hard to see this as anything other than a very sad public breakdown.

At his first “campaign event” in South Carolina, West appeared in a protective vest and again careened from topic to topic, his mood swinging like a manic pendulum. First laughing and joking, he was at once sobbing uncontrollably while revealing he and his wife almost aborted their first-born daughter, news I’m sure Kim would have preferred to be kept private.

He railed against abortion and the morning-after contraceptive pill Plan B, slammed Harriet Tubman, warned that “you don’t know who’s putting the internet in your school just to track you,” and suggested that everyone who had a baby should get “a million dollars, or something.”

The event was met with equal parts concern, scorn and ridicule. He was accused of misogynoir by black women and of undermining black issues.

And after that event, West took to Twitter to unravel some more.

“Kim tried to bring a doctor to lock me up with a doctor,” he tweeted. “If I get locked up Mandela… Ya’ll will know why.” He took shots at Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner. “Kriss don’t play with me you and that calmye are not allowed around my children. Ya’ll tried to lock me up.” And he said the horror movie “Get Out” — about a black man who visits the white suburbs only to be mind-controlled — was about him.

Incidentally, West’s public paranoia, oversharing, inability to filter and focus is similar to what we see from Trump himself, whose Twitter rages, unfounded conspiracy theories, rambling rallies and distorted view of reality should be just as troubling. The difference, of course, is that Trump is actually president, and not merely pretending to want to be.

Still, West’s very unsettling publicity stunt isn’t funny, and it isn’t even a car crash we can’t help but watch. It’s a cry for help, and one we should all give him by refusing to play the role of spectator. He’s a husband, a father and a human being, and he’s not “running for president.” He’s running for his life.

//These memorials were meant to honor men we now roundly agree were in fact dishonorable, traitors and the losers of a war that tore our country apart. Our monuments must be reflective not only of the nation we once were, but the nation we strive to be. Because they are earnest reflections of our aspirations, they must be honest.

Art faces no such burden. Art can lie, it can cheat, it can steal. It can manipulate you, trick you, tease you. Some of the best art is uncomfortable, often offensive, and thought-provoking. Miranda’s musical is — and is allowed to be — all of those things.//

Even as we rightly hold President Trump accountable for his many failures, we must not let local officials and Democrats off the hook. You'll forgive me if de Blasio's latest overture to salute our heroic health care workers and first responders, many of whom have been asked to work in horrid conditions without the protection they need and deserve, feels more than a little hollow. Considering de Blasio's glaring lack of leadership through this crisis, it actually feels like a sick joke.

What is it to be S.E. Cupp? Hear it through her own words.

Throughout her career, she has been a principled, honest, focused, and straight-forward journalist who speaks her mind. She has been called as too conservative, no-conservative, abused, and objectified by people on both sides when they don't agree with her. But she has always been truthful in expressing her views with common-sense and backing them up with facts.

She doesn't shy away from debating with people who don't agree with her. She confronts her differences in a civil way.

She haven't changed. As someone who has been following her career since 2009 (her first book-launch speech at Borders) to date, she haven't changed a bit. I am in process of documenting all her works since her early stage. Visit WorldOfSECupp.com and listen / read-through her works and you will appreciate how principled and consistent she has been throughout.

She still sticks to her conviction and does what is right.

In Nov 23rd edition of S.E. Cupp Unfiltered, S.E runs through facts and disputes in the case for impeachment

Fact, that Trump asked for an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son is established. But money of-course was released and Trump got nothing. Republicans have argued that there is no quid pro quo, but testimonies definitely proved that there was an attempt at it (asking for a favor).

S.E. is right. Facts are not disputable. What is disputable is "If it is an impeachable offense". On a side note, apart from S.E, I have seen many conservative thinkers who thinks same way as well. John Kass, a conservative columnist for Chicago Tribune see to agree that an attempt was made for quid-pro-quo. He further writes in Chicago Tribune "Of many democratic cries for impeachment based on Trump's boorish demeanor, the Schiff hearings over Trump's ill-advised phone call to the Ukrainian president seemed strongest" S.E. brings up a right point. It is up to us "We the people" too to decide. If this behavior is ok now, it should be ok for the future Presidents too.

Our Story

SE Cupp who according to me is a journalist par excellence and the voice of reason. Here we intend to cherish and celebrate S.E. Cupp and her works in journalism. The queen will be pampered here. We intend to document every onscreen performances, columns and quotes of S.E and make this the #1 consolidated encyclopedia of SE Cupp's works. Documenting her work is however a daunting task. That is eleven years of her work, terabytes of data in media and articles, plus two of her books. That is lot of work to review and have them split up in small clips and talking points for efficient consumption. Our webpage work is a continuous improvement process. This page will provide information on our daily updates linking the post to our website. I pledge to invest my time to do justice to S.E.’s works and get closer to providing 360-degree experience of her works in coming months.

Why S.E. Cupp? I consider myself a center of right old-school republican. Used to joke with my wife that S.E. Cupp is "me" with a megaphone. Seriously. It's difficult to agree with anyone 100% of the time. I don't agree 100% with S.E either. Even within close knit families we often don't agree with each other. That's why terms like RINO puts me off and are conversation stoppers in my case. On a scale of 10, I will rate my agreements with S.E. Cupp's world views around eight. That's good enough for me to call her my megaphone. Further this website is my attempt to revive conservative movement back to where it should be. Another shared ambition with S.E. Cupp. I am here to use S.E. Cupp and her works as my megaphone for this cause. It serves the cause better than me (an unknown face) starting a blog and trying to spread the message around. Her celebrity status will do the job better than what I could ever dream of. Plus it is also my way of paying back to S.E.Cupp and express my gratitude for what I continue to learn from her. It is my way of showing her the respect for her principled journalism. That said, I am also in process of documenting / collecting works from “must read” and “must listen” personalities to introduce them to my 6 year old son when he grows up. My intent is to insure that my collections are instrumental in not only broadening his knowledge, but also shaping up his life and values. So I am very picky in what I want him to read and listen during his early years as young adult. It didn’t take long time to figure out S.E. Cupp is one such personality whose works I will be introducing to him. I am positive that her works and values will empower and guide him in his life whenever he needs it. Thanks for everything you do as a journalist S.E. I believe that you have the ability to leave a profound positive impact to the future generations through your works. Reflecting back, you already made journalism a better place than what it was before you entered the field.
