Growing up around beautiful wild animals, and amongst gentle, patient, kind African people, has enriched her vision, and her philosophy of life. Which is to seek peace, and the beauty of light each day, in the people around her, and especially in the landscapes of...

Ten years later, he was learning to scuba dive, and he decided to leave his full time job as a graphic designer and illustrator and become a wildlife artist...

Victoria has drawn since she was a child, always fascinated by the shapes and patterns of animals and birds and putting the unusual together creating quirky associations. Originally training as a textile designer at Falmouth School of Art she worked in the industry for the United Turkey Red Company. In the 1980s she studied printmaking at Hereford College of Art and more recently at West Dean College and the Sidney Nolan Trust.

Pete Bryden is an abstract artist working mainly with acrylic paints on canvas. When he starts to work on one of his current Series 2 paintings, he selects the colours that he intends to work with and then launches in with no more of a plan than the simple fact that he intends to create a painting.

Working mainly with palette knives, he also uses pads and sponges, adding more paint here and there when the painting...

Tia Lambert is a landscape painter who lives on the slopes of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. With a love of wild flowers and inspired by natural forms in the landscape, whether it be frothy white cow parsley or tracks that wind along the ridgeway, Tia works outside directly from the landscape whenever possible, injecting a fresh contemporary feel to her paintings, whilst using traditional techniques.

Tia’s vibrant oil paintings show a love of strong colour and a fascination with the transformation...

Sadie lives and works in the beautiful South Hams, Devon and the need to be creative has been part of her life for as long as she can remember. It started with a desire to develop her passion for drawing, which eventually led to experimentation with digital photography, via The Open College of the Arts, which opened up a fascination with exploring colours and form via macro/still life photography.
Sadie wanted to experiment further with different mediums and was inspired by wire sculpting. Following a ‘light bulb’ moment...

A Brief History of Creates

Creates Magazine began life as ‘Wye Valley Creates Magazine’, an art magazine that was distributed around the Wye Valley area, in October 2016. After much local success, Kenny John, the founder of the magazine, teamed up with Michelle Gordon, to go national and the first issue of Creates Magazine, that was distributed to over 300 galleries around the UK, was published in April 2018. The magazine now features editorials on artists, features exhibitions and art fairs, and is helping artists and makers to increase their visibility within the art world.
