Burhan urges national and political forces to make concessions and give priority to nation’s interests

Khartoum, Apr. 7 (SUNA) - The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, called on the political and national forces in the country to give priority to the national interest by making mutual concessions to achieve the aspirations of the Sudanese people for stability and a decent life.

During his address at a Ramadan (iftar), which was held by the member of the TSC, Lieutenant General Yasser Abdel Rahman Al-Atta, at his residence Al- Mohandessin city of Omdurman, in the presence of members of the TSC, Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabbashi, Taher Abu Bakr Hajar, and the Secretary-General of the council, Lieutenant General Mohammed Alghali Ali Youssef, the governor of Darfur region, Minni Arko Minawi, and a number of representatives of the Forces of Freedom and Change, the Central Council, political parties, and the diplomatic corps, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan asserted that there is no reason for the current conflict.

He added: “We want to work together for a real political transition that the people feel. We initiated the political process and are committed to it until we get the country out to safety," pointing to the presence of barricades here and there and intransigence contrary to the wishes of the Sudanese people.

He stressed the need for everyone to put their hands together in order to safely pass through this transitional period, adding: "No single person will be able to achieve this."

The President of the TSC renewed the military institution’s stance of not to allow a return to what was before April 11, 2019, promising that an agreement would soon be reached that would represent a large and cohesive transitional bloc that would carry the transitional period to its end, noting that the time factor is not in our favor and that every day we delay obstacles appear before us through incitement, lying and making up stories that do not exist on the ground with the intention of stirring up strife.

Al-Burhan pointed out in his address to the delay in reaching an agreement due to some matters related to the security and military reform clause, hoping to overcome it with the necessary speed, stressing at the same time that the armed forces are a well-established institution that does not seek to stir up strife or ignite wars.

He indicated that the leaders of the military institution patience may be interpreted by some as weakness, but we are patient in order to achieve the aspirations of the Sudanese people, and our goal is to lead the country to a complete civil democratic state in which the army is far from politics, and its duty is only to protect the homeland.

The head of the TSC stated that incase of failure to achieve the largest bloc of national consensus that leads the country and the change, we must make way for other people of the country and we must all leave the political scene because we have wasted four years, during which we repeat the same talk, and do not accept the other.

On his part, member of the TSC, Gen. Yasser Al-Atta, called on all to stick to the homeland’s demands and the future of the coming generations, whatever the sacrifices are, adding that the building of the country requires responsibility, wisdom and will to realize the slogans of equality among the people of nation without exclusion.

He pointed to the homeland’s bleeding wounds that requires all the revolutionary hands to build a free and democratic country, renouncing racism, regionalism, tribalism, and hate speech, and avoiding secondary disputes, hence the essence is agreed upon by all, which is the establishment of a civilian and democratic state in which freedom, peace and justice prevail.

The (Iftar) ceremony was addressed by the Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minawi, and Khaled Omer Youssef of the Sudanese Congress Party whom they stressed the need for consensus in order to achieve the slogans of the glorious December revolution.
