We are happy to announce the results of the 2023 Short Fiction Contest for Emerging Writers. We received many excellent entries this year and are delighted to announce that the winning story is Mary Elizabeth Dubois's "To Believe in the Ubiquity of Animation."

Congratulations also to our runner-up, "Saints of Missouri" by Cole Chamberlain and honorable mention "Such Lush, Lyrical Prose" by Zehra Nabi.

All stories will appear in the Spring 2024 issue.

Our Nonfiction Contest for Emerging Writers ends on JANUARY 31st at MIDNIGHT. It's open to anyone who has not yet published a book with a nationally distributed press. Entry is $18 and comes with a one-year print subscription, and the winner receives $1000! The Short Fiction Contest for Emerging Writers ends TONIGHT at MIDNIGHT CST! Anyone who has not published a book with a nationally distributed press is eligible to enter. Entry costs $18 and comes with a one-year print subscription. The winner receives $1500 and publication. Everyone else is considered for publication at our usual rates. Have a happy new year!... after you submit to the contest.

We are happy to announce the results of the 2023 Poetry Contest for Emerging Poets. We received many excellent entries this year, and guest judge, Aaron Coleman, selected Lucinda Trew. Lucinda’s winning group of three poems will appear in an upcoming issue.

Congratulations also to runner-up Tiara Dinevska-McGuire.

The 2024 Poetry Contest will open on January 1st.
