Season of Crimson Blossoms is an accomplished first effort and an admirable interrogation of Hausa customs and Islamic norms 👍🏾. However, the novel struggles with technical editing issues, and stumbles under the weight of sexism, ageism, and mental health 👎🏾

🙂i thought the prose was easy to read, accessible, well-balanced with humor and pain, and told a compelling race and social justice story that's relevant to today 👍🏾

☹️i didn't like the author explaining american blackness and the chaotic writing towards the end👎🏾
