“I thought studying in the US would be easy. I’d attended a UN conference in high school, so I already had a visa. I begged my father to let me go. He finally agreed and took out a loan to buy me a plane ticket. I arrived with $150 in my pocket, and stayed with a Gambian family in Maryland. For two months I visited schools, asking for financial aid—but nothing was available for people like me. I began to accept the reality that I would need to go back home. There was one last school called Montgomery College. It was a five-minute bus ride from where I was staying. And when I visited the campus, I learned about a scholarship for international students. But the deadline was approaching, and I would need to submit my application that day. I searched everywhere for a computer. I walked through the hallways looking for any door that was open. And that’s how I discovered Professor Rudin. She was sitting at her desk. She had currency from all over the world hanging on her wall. I noticed a bill from Gambia, and that’s how we started talking. I stayed for two hours. I told her my entire story, and by the end we were crying and hugging each other. Kelly researched the scholarship and learned it wouldn’t work out. But that night she spoke to her husband Tom, and they decided to pay for my school fees. They gave me money for food and clothes. Kelly drove me to Best Buy and got me a phone, and then added me to their family plan. I’m still on that plan today. For two years I lived with the Rudins. Every morning Kelly made me breakfast, and we drove to school together. She and Tom became like my parents. And her children became like my siblings. They hung pictures of me around the house. They helped with my entire education. When I graduated from Georgetown, they even paid for my father to attend the ceremony. He was so overwhelmed when he arrived. He gave Tom the biggest hug. It was such an emotional moment for me. I thought about how it all started—begging my dad to let me come to America. And here I was, four years later, graduating from Georgetown. My father was with me. And he was thanking the two human beings who took me in and called me their daughter.”

OYO STATE DEPUTY PREVENTED FROM ATTENDING AJIMOBI'S 8TH DAY PRAYERS

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State was today prevented from accessing the resident of late Abiola Ajimobi's during his 8th day prayers.

According to report Mrs Ajimobi was said to be in possession of the key to the g*te where the event took place though the Ajimobi's family came out with a release that it was strictly a family affair.

The deputy Governor was the same person tongue lashed by the wife of Ajimobi in a video that went viral recently.

Should the Deputy Governor have attended the event bearing in mind how he was humiliated the last time?

Integrity

A friend is calling off his wedding plans because he thinks his girlfriend lacks integrity. They have known for about 3years and he has not complained about her to me or any one.

Problem started when he got a call from the bank pleading with him to tell his girlfriend to reverse/return the excess amount credited to her account when she visited the bank to make a deposit into her account. He called his account officer to investig*te the issue. The account officer confirmed that she got excess of what she wanted to deposit and she has moved all the funds to another bank.

She used the guy as her next of kin that was how they could contact him. He called his babe who denied initially but reluctantly agreed when he divulged that the bank contacted him. Dude became angry and paused all wedding plans.

The lady s begging and has cried her eyes out...what do you think? can you compromise integrity...?

MAN RELEASED FROM PRISON AFTER SPENDING 21 YEARS FOR MURDER HE DIDN'T COMMIT

Prince Brutus Bamiteko wrote

NOTHING IS GOOD AS FREEDOM.

CJMR team led by Pastor Hezekiah Olujobi, Myself and Mrs Adesoye Folake in company of Onche Jonathan Inalegwu of the Nigerian correctional service Oyo Command were once again on a rescue mission to Lagos yesterday, 30/06/2020 to effect the freedom of Olushina Ajayi after 21years miscarriage of justice and subsequent wrongful conviction.

It its worthy of note that he was sentenced to death! After probing the judgment , we discovered he was innocent and not supposed to be incarcerated. We took up his case and his sentence was converted to life imprisonment. CJMR after a long legal battle up to supreme court was poised to ensure justice. We drew the attention of the Governor of Oyo State Engr Seyi Makinde to the judgement that nolified the conviction and the Governor ordered his release.

On our way back with Olushina Ajayi, we decided to have a stop over to eat at a place and we ordered food, he insisted that he is not feeling like eating anything, he refused to eat. He said "its like I have eaten and my stomach is filled up".Nothing like freedom!

The Lord bless everyone who made it possible for us. We say thank you for your prayers.

EVEN IN NIGERIA THEY GOT US ENSLAVED

8 Nigerians Held Captive By Chinese In Abuja Rescued.

Two Chinese nationals were arrested and paraded by the Police in Abuja today for locking up their eight Nigerian staff in an apartment for the past four months.

According to International Centre for Investig*tive Reporting (ICIR), a team of six police officers from the FCT Divisional Police Command in Utako swung into action, following a tip-off by a radio listener who called in during the "Berekete Family" programme of the Human Rights Nigeria and raided the residence of the Chinese nationals at No. 117 Jabi area, Abuja.

At the time of this report, it's still unclear the kind of services the eight Nigerians rendered to the Chinese couple. However, it is apparent they were domestic staff of the couple.

One of the women among the eight rescued Nigerians said they were not allowed to move out of the mansion. She complained that the couple refused allowing her to go for treatment even when she was very sick. She added that if any of them goes out, a certain percentage of their salary would be deducted.

Another man among the group who gave his name as Alex said he worked as a driver for the Chinese couple. He added that he and the seven others have been working as domestic staff of the Chinese couples since the outbreak of Covid-19 in February.

Another worker who did not reveal his name said that 3000 was deducted from his salary because he stubbornly went out to fill his pension form.

All the staff agreed that they were not given food by the Chinese nationals aside their salaries.

ICIR observed that during the arrest, only two Chinese were arrested although there were four of them sighted in the house.

The Chinese couple were calling a particular person as they first refused going with the policemen. However, they succumbed as the person over the phone instructed them to go with the policemen.

Recall that six days ago, the Nigerian Police in Kano State had rescued more than 109 workers who were locked in.

NIGERIAN ADMITS COMMITTING $11m FRAUD IN US

Obinwanne Okeke, popularly known as Invictus Obi, arrested in the United States last August for fraud, has admitted to American authorities that his participation in the fraudulent schemes for which he has pleaded guilty “was undertaken knowingly, intentionally and unlawfully and not as a result of an accident, mistake or other innocent reason.”

Mr Okeke, who was charged with two counts of computer fraud and wire fraud, also said he decided to plead guilty because he realized that the findings by investig*tors and the ‘statement of facts’ filed in court by prosecutors are true and accurate.

He said had the matter proceeded to trial, he was sure the United States authorities would prove the alleg*tions against him beyond a reasonable doubt.

Mr Okeke’s explanations are contained in the Statement of Facts submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia by G. Zachary Terwilliger (United States attorney), Brian J. Samuels (assistant United States Attorney) and Mathew P. Mattis ( special assistant United States attorney).

The document was filed in open court on June 18 as the ‘businessman’, also known as Invictus Obi in Nigeria, capitulated and pleaded guilty. He is to be sentenced on October 22.
Mr Okeke’s attorney, John Iweanoge, also agreed, saying pleading guilty remained the best course of action for his client.

“I have carefully reviewed the above Statement of Facts with him,” Mr Iweanoge said.
“To my knowledge, his decision to stipulate to these facts is an informed and voluntary one.”
