If you’re thinking about a career in Executive Protection (EP), it’s essential to evaluate both ✅ the advantages and 🚨 potential challenges of the industry as part of your decision-making process.

To those unfamiliar with the field, this job appears attractive, even exciting. 😎✨

The distinction between what is real and what is not in EP often creates unnecessary noise and confusion.

🚩 Insider risks have long been a critical concern in corporate security, traditionally encompassing threats from employees, contractors, or third-party vendors with access to sensitive information.

However, as digital transformation accelerates, the convergence of physical and cyber threats has created new vulnerabilities. 📈

Executive protection (EP) professionals, historically tasked with safeguarding high-profile individuals from physical threats, now find themselves on the frontlines of combating cyber-criminal attacks.

💻 🔑 🛡️ Expanding their skill sets to include cybersecurity awareness is no longer optional—it is a necessity.

✍️ Alan Saquella

To effectively safeguard high-profile individuals against cyber threats, executive protection professionals must develop expertise in cybersecurity fundamentals.

ASIS International has initiated a lawsuit against the Board of Executive Protection Professionals, Inc. (BEPP) for alleged trademark infringement: https://www.pacermonitor.com/public/case/56852743/ASIS_International%2C_Inc_v_Board_of_Executive_Protection_Professionals%2C_Inc?utm_source=chatgpt.com

The dispute centers around ASIS's Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation, a well-established certification in security management. ASIS contends that BEPP's use of the Certified Executive Protection Professional (CEPP) title infringes upon its CPP trademark, potentially causing confusion within the professional community.

BEPP has publicly acknowledged the lawsuit, suggesting that ASIS's actions are an attempt to hinder BEPP's efforts to elevate standards in the executive protection industry.

As of now, the case is in its early stages, and further developments are anticipated as both parties present their arguments.

During the Super Bowl halftime show, security swiftly tackled a performer who waved a combined Palestinian and Sudanese flag, causing a major disruption during Kendrick Lamar’s performance. The NFL confirmed the individual was part of the 400-member halftime cast and will now face a lifetime ban from all NFL events. The New Orleans Police Department is investigating potential charges.

This raises a key question: How far should security go in maintaining control while balancing freedom of expression at such high-profile events? What’s your take—was this an overreaction or a necessary security measure? Let’s hear your thoughts.

A few months later, the same young man was driving down that very avenue in the same sports car, when he was cut off by a van. 🚐

How do you think the young man reacted, and what do you think happened next?

🤔 Does this situation remind you of a specific stage in a criminal activity?

This intriguing case comes straight from Ivan Ivanovich’s book, 📘 Protection in the 21st Century: A New Vision. It highlights a concept often overlooked in discussions about counter-surveillance and prevention, yet one of critical importance.

🤓☝️ We’ll reveal the rest of the story and the valuable lessons it holds soon, but first we’d love to hear your thoughts.

What do you think this case is all about? 💬
