Have you heard of Simon Boas?

Simon has written a book called A Beginner’s Guide to Dying.

In his book, due for posthumous publication in September, Simon “considers and collates the things that have given him such a great sense of peace and contentment, and why dying at 46 really isn’t so bad. And for that reason it’s also only partly about dying.”

I heard Simon interviewed on the radio and was blown away, I had to share his story.

You can read his full letter for the by searching for his name on the website ➡️ jerseyeveningpost.com ❤️

My husband sent me this and I had some thoughts.

How do YOU feel when you read the statement above?

I agree in essence, but the tone feels a little unforgiving. There are triggers everywhere. What happens when we accidentally spot one?

Swipe 👉 through the full carousel to read my thoughts around this, as well as what I believe can happen when we use our triggers for our growth and healing ❤️

I was once where you are right now.

I was a sensitive and anxious kid, yet strangely confident.

Throughout childhood I developed rituals to deal with anxiety.

During teenage years I converted my obsessions onto my body and food. This combination formed a perfect canvas upon which to work out my distress. I spent my 20s and 30’s denying the truth and living a dual existence fuelled by shame and secrecy.

Thankfully, I fell apart. What a relief! My recovery began.

I had some great support and some not so great. I built resilience and learnt new ways to live.

I channeled my energy, creatively and finally, I got it. I understood that this energetic life force used in the right ways would set me free.

Those who have been before have passed the techniques described in the Creative Recovery Accelerator™ onto me. It is my greatest pleasure to pass them onto you – may we all be at peace and free from suffering.

The CRA™ will support and guide you through ten key components that are essential to your recovery. As you learn to reduce and stop the self harm, and let go of your suffering, you will discover your longed for internal balance and harmony with life.

Performative vulnerability is fake authenticity.

A friend recently introduced me to the concept of performative vulnerability, I’d not heard this phrase before but turns out I’d experienced it many times on social media, especially here on instagram.

In my latest blog post, I share my thoughts around performative vulnerability and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, if you’ve experienced it - whatever you’d like to share with me. My DMs are ALWAYS open 🫶

Recovery is a journey and not one journey is the same as another.

In this carousel, I share some of the things that were in my personal ED recovery toolkit, what helped me and how I learnt to overcome my feelings.

I hope this resonates with you and shows you what’s possible when you’re ready to start your recovery journey.

If you’re already on the other side, what’s in your toolkit? ❤️

My friend David recently posted his mission statement, which made me think…

What is our mission at Love This Food Thing now that we’re three years (yep - time flies!) down the line?

Our mission is simple.

We help people heal by waking them up to the potential of their lives.

If I had to reduce this statement (Hollywood pitches are 25 words or less) I’d pitch, we help people heal.

We aim to provide shelter and support when the road is dark and a shoulder to lean on when you’re too tired to walk alone; and to celebrate life in all its dirty glory.

Love This Food Thing continues to open up the conversation around food friend or foe and spread the word that we are and always were good enough.
Everyone is welcome.

You are the reason we continue. Thank you for your support.

Let’s be well and thrive together ❤️
