Journaling savveedddddd meeeee, okay? It was my lifeline during one of the toughest seasons of my life.

When I left the military earlier than planned, welcomed my first child, and then faced my husband's deployment shortly after our daughter was born, I felt overwhelmed and lost. Journaling became my sanctuary—it gave me clarity and a safe space to pour out my emotions and uncertainties.

You have to step out of the box. And while it may be uncomfortable to do so.

It's harder to stay in the box that wants to keep you confined.

I'm giving you permission to take care of yourself.

We live in a society where women are expected to take care of everything and everyone.

Yes, women are naturally nurturers and we have that desire in our hearts.

But we're not supposed to go on without stopping and refueling ourselves first.

Yes, you are a mom

Yes, you are a wife

Yes, you are an entrepreneur

All these things are a part of you. But first and foremost, you are you.

You were "YOU" before these titles and responsibilities were added to you.

Take care of the woman at the root. And she will be able to show up in every aspect of your life.

Take care of yourself.

Sit down, rest, and stop rushing everywhere

If God rested after he created the world.

Why wouldn't you rest?

We think that no one cares because it’s not reflecting in our analytics, not in the views, comments and likes.

But as this verse says “Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to.

If we stop speaking about how God has moved in our lives, no one will get the opportunity to trust in God: and believe that he can do the same thing for them.

So we need to keep sharing what God has put on our hearts. No matter what the analytics look like.

Recently, I was asked the question ⬇️

“How do I normally find time for God in the season of having children?”

This question shocked me, because as simple as it was.

It showed me that it’s not as easy as it seems.

Adding kids to your life changes how you think and operate.

And your time with God changes with the different seasons you are in.

Especially with motherhood.

How you spend time will change when you have kids. But the beauty of it is, you get to show them what it looks like.

Instead of you having an hour of quiet time.

Maybe it looks like having a time of worship with your kids.

Or you and the kids are journaling together.

Irs a time to be creative and truly add God into everything that you do.

IT MEANS ⬇️

Talking like yourself. Don’t make yourself sound like how you think others want you to sound.

Dressing like yourself. Don’t feel ashamed of what your style is. Own it!!

Not conforming to what everyone else is doing. Don’t do stuff just to be a part of the crowd.

Staying true to your goals and your convictions. What is your purpose for being online and what are your boundaries. Stay true to them.

You do not need to be someone else, just be yourself.

As cliche as it sounds to be authentic and be yourself, it’s true.

Show up as who you are. Quirks and all 🖤

I was washing my face and thinking about how I needed to try the strip lashes I was given. I bought the glue and I didn’t have the chance to get to it yet

It reminded masw of the time I tried strip lashes but it was the magnetic ones. Where you would put on the eyeliner and then the lashes would stick to it. Well, that didn’t go well. And I gave up on lashes.

Now that I have the lashes with glue, I was thinking that I might get it this time. It shouldn’t be too hard to do.

It made me think of how many times we are trying something and it’s not working. And it’s working because of the way we are doing it. So when you go about it a different way. You’re still going to get the same result but the way you approached it is different.

Do you remember a time where you were struggling to do something and once you took a step back, and tried it a different way. Did It work?

I put my identity into the titles and roles that I obtained. I thought they were the things that defined me.

I thought that's where my worth came from.

Until God sat me down and told me to be still.

He started to show me that the titles that I put my identity in, can change in a second. For 2 years, I was a solider until I wasn't anymore.

He showed me that I am his daughter before anything else. It doesn't matter what titles I obtained. I will always be his daughter.

Who I am in him will never change. Just like he will never change.

And I would have never figured that out until I sat at the feet of my father. Where I poured my heart out to him. He took that vulnerability and showed me the lies that I believed.

And when I get caught up into thinking that I am only a wife, a mom, a business owner and all God reminds me that I am his daughter first. And he cares about the things I care about.

I can stand behind him and he will fight my battles for me.

So I created a prayer journal for the purpose of giving women the space to be still with their father. For them to be reassured by their creator.

To finally see herself the way God sees her.

For her to show up and truly cast her cares onto him.

It comes out November 10th!!!

And I am so excited! Stay tuned! I can't wait for women to see how much their father truly cares for them.

I’ve been searching for a community that would be vulnerable about life and the things women go through.

As women, we deal with balancing different hats, marriage, motherhood, womanhood, careers and our purpose.

We try to do this by ourselves. And it leaves is drowning under the weight of it all.

We don’t have a space where we feel seen and heard. And are encouraged to be better women in every area of our life.

To truly walk into the things God has for us.

Where we uplift each other in prayer and do life together.

I longed for something like that. And I couldn’t find it.

Until a thought crossed my mind

“A lot of times the spaces we are looking for are the ones we need to create ourselves”.

And it wowed me.

Because God will show you where a gap is and he is asking us to fill it.

We’re always waiting for someone else to do it.

When it’s suppose to be something we start because God opened our eyes to it.

He put that burden on our heart for a reason.

So I did just that.

I created a community for women to feel seen and heard. Because it’s something I was longing for as a woman who has many responsibilities and feeling like no one was going through what I was going through.

This is something I need. And I know there are other women who need this too.

This community is going to be a blessing to so many women. Because doing life together is important. We need each other.

We get caught up in striving to achieve a goal. That we dismiss if its something we want or even are suppose to do.

So I want to ask you, do you want the thing you are striving for?

If you don’t know yet, it’s okay.

I want you to know that you are not alone. It happened to me.

So I’m going to share 3 things that I was striving for that in the end, I didn’t want.

The first thing was going to college. I did all the things I had to do. Had the perfect grades and the GPA. I got so caught up in making sure I was ready for college. That I didn’t even know what I wanted to go to college for. What did I want to do with my life?
As it turned out, I didn’t want to go back to school. I was striving for something that society told me I needed.

The second thing was becoming a SGT in the military. I was ready for it. I could have honestly did it if I wanted to. I was only a rank away. As I look back on it now, I didn’t want the responsibility of a SGT. I didn’t want to have to sacrifice time with my family to go help out yonger soldiers at all times of the day. It wasn’t worth the money or the rank.

The third thing was being a social media manager. I enjoy social media. And I love content creation and being creative. What I didn’t like about it was how hands on it was. And managing someone else social media was a lot of work and time. Holes you had to jump through. Being on calls, etc. It wasn’t helping me spend more time with my daughter. At the end of the day, I was stressed out and I felt like I couldn’t be present like I wanted too.

All of these things that I was striving for was right in front of me. And I could have easily done them. But the problem was that I didn’t have a reason to why I was doing it.

I’m an overachiever and I will do things just to say I’ve done it. To add another achievement to my “resume”.

It’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing. And not wanting to start over because you said you were going to give your yes to it.

It’s okay for you to change your mind. It’s okay for you to take a step back and see if it’s something you actually want.

Becoming one is not easy.

It doesn’t happen over night.

It’s a process.

The biggest struggle for me is to get rid of the mindset of “what’s yours is yours and what mine is mine.

For example, if there is a problem that you’re struggling with, it’s essentially your problem.

It’s not mine.

However, in marriage, that is not the case.

You are one.

So your problem is my problem and vice versa.

And this is the hardest thing for me to get a hold of. Because I adapted the ms. independent mindset before I was married.

It was what carried me through the years before meeting my husband.

Now, it has to go in order for my marriage to survive and thrive.

It’s not always going to be easy doing what your spouse needs. And walking beside them. Because you will simply will always feel like it.

You may feel like it’s another thing to add to your busy schedule and you don’t want to add another responsibility.

But marriage is doing life with your spouse. And that means doing everything together. Regardless if it’s your area of weakness or not.

Cooking with the Blacks 🖤

(Before you have mixed feelings about the “Blacks”. Our last name is “Black” 😂😂 I feel like I have to add that disclaimer when it comes to our last name 😂

Anyway

When I tell you guys that Big Mama’s Sauce brought back memories of swimming with my siblings and being at my grandmas house, it diiiddddddd. It brings the feeling of summer back to life.

My husband and I had a great time using this BBQ sauce on our chicken wings.

( I am not a huge fan of chicken wings, like at all, I prefer drumsticks 😂 ) so to say that I enjoyed this is a huge thing 😂

While we were cooking, we were thinking of many ways to use this sauce. So it’s safe to say that this sauce will be used and loved in this household.

So if you’re looking for a new sauce to try, Mama’s Sauce is where it’s at!!

PS. The owner Sobriyia is so sweet. There’s nothing better than putting a face behind the business and supporting them. It makes it so much sweeter!

My husband said this and it convicted me.

In our parenthood journey, I've always talked about how it was hard for me and the things I go through as a mom.

I would dismiss his struggles as a dad because he didn't have it as hard as me. He didn't go through the pains of having a baby and the recovery period.

I would get upset when he didn't relate to me.

Why is he struggling to see my point of view? How do you not see what I see?

As I look back on it, I realized that for him to understand my point of view. I need to understand his point of view.

I need to make room for him to talk about the things he struggles with and acknowledge it.

There are things that he goes through as a dad that I won't experience.

It can't be about me all the time.

It's easy to get caught up in focusing on the mom all the time. Women are good at creating spaces for when we don't feel heard. Men have a harder time.

But as a woman who is not doing this parenthood journey alone. I need to help create a space for my husband. I have to let go of the mindset of " who has it worse" when it needs to be about being there for each other.

We are on this journey together.

My mom told me that God will give me an illogical instruction and it wouldn’t make sense in that moment. But to do it anyway and trust God.

And as I look over the last 3 years of my life, I see what God was doing.

If I didn’t move when God told me to,

I wouldn’t have met my husband.

We wouldn’t have had our daughter when we did.

My husband could have missed the birth of our daughter.

I wouldn’t have a reason to get out of the military. I would have stayed in a place longer than I was suppose to.

I wouldn’t have had the time to reflect and see the things God wanted me to leave behind. And the traits he wanted me to pick up.

I wouldn’t have known the endless possibilities of having a business online. And how I could build something that supports my lifestyle.

His plans will always be better than mine.

If God is telling you to move a certain way and it doesn’t make sense. Do what he is telling you to do.

It’s not going to make sense to everyone because it’s not for them to understand. He told you. And he wants you to lean on him.

He has a plan for your life that is greater than the plan you have in your head.

It's okay to lose yourself when you become a mom.

You have to, because the woman before motherhood didn't birth a baby.

The new you did.

And as much as the world pushes for you to stay the same. You have to grow and change.

When you enter new stages of life, the old can't come into the new.

There are things that you have to shed.

There are things that you have to pick up.

So losing yourself is not a bad thing.

It's just the process of it happening that hurts and that's normal.

You get to find the new you and that is beautiful.

Even when it doesn't feel like it.

Listen to your audience

Whether that's a service or product they would like to see.

Common questions they have about your business.

Their pain points.

Where they are at in their business journey

What they are looking for.

The type of content that speaks to them.

Listening to your audience is going to help your business grow.

Which is why social media is important to be on.
You will free up time trying to figure out what your audience wants. When they are already telling you. You just have to pay attention.

If you are not tapping into your audience, you are missing out.

The reason you are struggling with staying consistent with planning your content is because you have no system in place.

With no system, you can't execute properly.

-Where do you put your content ideas when they spontaneously show up?

Do you remember the idea entirely?

How was it supposed to look?

What angle did you have?

Do you remember the tag line or the song it was suppose to be linked to?

Do you remember the picture or video you were going to use?

Having a system that is structured will make it easier for you to plan. Because it's already outlined. All you have to do is bring it together.

9. Hashtag Strategy (the kind of hashtags to use and how to use them.

Wild card opportunities that fit your business goals. Whether that’s collabs, a digital product, or expanding your online footprint

These things steer the direction you want to go in with your online presence

And you can always adapt it when something is not working or something is working.
