Our friends @cytriplecrown have taken this year to hike 7,940 miles across the United States in 9 months!!
It’s one of the most insane adventures I have ever heard of! They are hiking the The Calendar Year Triple Crown which consists of the @appalachiantrail (2,190 miles), the @pacificcrest.trail (2,650 miles), and the @continentaldivide.trail (3,100 miles).
To put that into perspective, if you divide their total mileage, 7,940miles by 365 days, you get 21.75 miles. That means that in order to achieve hiking 7,940 miles in a calendar year, you would have to hike 21.7 miles per day. AND they are aiming to achieve this goal before they go back to school in the fall so they have to average over 30 miles a day...
I can’t think of many better ways to enjoy the earth and form an appreciation for it then spending 9 months in the midst of rugged, gorgeous, and testing nature.
