I gave my life to Jesus 26 years ago today!
August 23rd is the most important day of my life because I gave my life to Jesus on this day in 1996!
I had been earnestly seeking the Truth for seven years after being inspired to buy a Bible in 1989 (two years after almost losing my life in a yoga cult) and turning to the "summary" where I found the Revelation of Jesus Christ. He truly revealed Himself to me through that book and first spoke to me when I was working out at the local gym at 8am that August 23rd morning. I heard an audible voice, which I knew was God saying, "Call Kevin," a Youth for Christ pastor who I knew professionally in my capacity as the news director and morning news announcer at the radio station in Brockville, Ontario. Kevin had invited me to an AIA presentation at a local high school a couple years earlier. He made time to meet with me before work and upon entering his office, he said I looked cult-like. At the time, I was being drawn back into new age deception and was wearing various occult paraphernalia including amulets, rings on both ears and every finger, and a shaman's bracelet on my left arm. I immediately knew that I desperately needed the blood of Jesus to protect me from spiritual forces of darkness. Kevin was God's choice to lead me in repenting for my sins and fully surrendering my life to Jesus, my Redeemer, Creator and King! My life radically changed after that first encounter when I was born again by the power of His Holy Spirit. Six months later, I quit my job and sold everything I owned to follow Jesus wherever He led me. I went through much deliverance as He truly set this captive free from chains of dark deception. (I've included a short spoken word about why I love Jesus.) Walking with Jesus these last 26 years is why I am alive today, and I am forever thankful!
