Three-Sentence Story Tips

All stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end. The Three-Sentence Story is no different. Each sentence will serve as one of the sections of a story. One for the beginning. One for the middle. And one for the end. Here’s some tips to help in writing your own Three-Sentence Story.

  • Don’t sweat it. This is meant to be a fun activity.

  • The first sentence is the beginning of your story. It should tell the reader when and where the story takes place, who is in the story, and provide a goal for the main character.

  • The second sentence is the middle of your story. The middle describes the efforts of the main character to complete the story goal. This section works best if includes some sort of obstacle or challenge that makes it harder for the main character to obtain the goal.
