Believe it or not, the Sackville hospital ER is only open from 8am to 4pm. It has experienced full closures as well.
I recently went there at 2:30pm after noticing a pulsing aorta in my stomach (worried about aortic aneurysm) and was told I wouldn't get in by the end of the day and to come back the next morning at 8am. So I did and after waiting past noon and seeing lots of people who came hours after me get in before me I ended up leaving. I booked an appointment with my doctor which was a week later.
An article from 6 months ago in January 2023 says Horizon Health is trying to restore 24/7 coverage.
Since many issues are not emergencies or life threatening, we also need local walk-in clinics.
