Maybe because the Media forgot in their calendars
And announce it on TV, FB, Radio, and Twitters

Happy Nurse’s Week but I guess it’s not that special,
not even my patients or doctors recall
That we too celebrate our pride as a professional
But I guess unlike teachers, we don’t get presents at all.

Happy Nurse’s Week in this last month of October,
and yet it feels like empty like it’s already over
Only few celebrates us and gives us honor,
Like a kid being left from party and crying in the corner.

Happy Nurse’s Week to our brave health soldiers
Who always fought the battle to help people recover
Who tend the wounds of many and make them feel better
Who assists in delivery, death and dying, up to morgue

Happy Nurse’s Week for those who work overtime,
Who forgot to drink, eat, p**s, in their shifts the whole time
Who are scolded by their doctors, patients and their folks
Who always get reprimanded by their power-tripping boss.

Happy Nurse’s Week to those who earn less than minimum,
who pays for their food, their rent, and other bills they assume
who can’t save because in their budget it has no room
who can’t even buy their wants or else they are doomed.

To become a nurse with pride, who stands up tall
The one who works with humility, with care for each soul
