🎙SAMIR ESKANDA: Heba Abu Nada was an award winning feminist poet and author of a novel entitled Oxygen Is Not for the Dead. And this is what Israel means when it says it's aiming for damage, not accuracy. And this is who Israel is talking about when it says it's fighting human animals — it means every man, woman and child in Gaza.”

🎙SAMIR:
“The priority right now of any humanitarian is to stop what experts are calling the unfolding genocide. How can we do that as artists and cultural workers? How can we contribute? The most urgent demand is for a ceasefire - right now.”

“Whatever art you make, and whatever its political or aesthetic character, you have the choice — and I would argue the ethical responsibility — to not allow it to be used to whitewash systems of oppression.”

Our struggles are connected - as is our power!

Join us TODAY in solidarity with and the people of Atlanta to fight the racial and environmental injustice that is Cop City.

This isn't a local battle - it's a national movement. For too long, environmental racism and over-policing in Black communities has been ignored.

No matter where you live, you can support the campaign! Share this post or make your own.

Featured on KEXP’s Song of the Day, in Scene Noise and Bandcamp Daily, and in round-ups by DJ Mag, Resident Advisor, FADER, Buy Music, Mixmag, and Girl Underground – this compilation turns the soundtrack for solidarity up loud 🍉

From Volume 2’s liner notes:

“In the midst of this extraordinarily painful time, it is especially urgent to broadcast a message to Palestinians and the many Israelis who have joined in the struggle for a future with justice and equality: We are with you.

Though we release this album in far different circumstances than when we first began gathering contributions, we remain steadfast in our vision of exuberant solidarity with Palestine not just in times of extreme crisis, but also in the ongoing creative work of collective liberation.

Against intensive attempts to silence demands for ceasefire and true justice, we are only getting louder.

None of us is free until ALL of us are free. And Palestinians will be free.”

• COMING SOON! Episode 5 with special guest Christian Allaire (Ojibwe) – author of bestselling “The Power of Style,” Senior Fashion and Style Writer at Vogue, and beloved friend of the Solidarity Index family!

CHRISTIAN 🎙️
“I was like, I want to do a book that celebrates cultural fashion, because if that was something I had seen as a kid, I probably would have been more proud of my heritage and worn my cultural wear earlier on, if I had seen that. So I really just wanted to do a book that celebrated not just Indigenous fashion, but all sorts of different cultures and sort-of their design traditions. And the hope was to inspire kids to be proud of where they're from and to rock it with their style.”
