After an incredible year-long journey spanning over 5,000 miles, Boeier—a Kemp’s ridley sea turtle and one of the world’s most endangered sea turtle species—finally made her way back to the warm Gulf waters she calls home. 🐚 From being entangled off the coast of the Netherlands to recovering in Rotterdam and receiving medical care at the Houston Zoo, Boeier’s journey is a powerful testament to collaboration in conservation.
Thanks to the dedication of Houston Zoo, Texas A&M Galveston’s Gulf Center for Sea Turtle Research, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, and other organizations, Boeier is now thriving in her natural habitat, fitted with a tracker to monitor her ongoing journey.
