A loud clang rang out as the taller man blocked Petra’s strike. He turned and yelled to his companion, who held Genevo, “Run! Get out of here!” Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, the Witch Hunter swung low and drove her blade deep into his stomach, dropping him to the street.

The last attacker maneuvered between Petra and the other thug, who now fled with Genevo slung over his shoulder.

Petra shouted at her, “I’ve no time to cross blades with you, harlot. One side or meet the fate of the others!”

The attacker held her blade firmly and obstructed Petra’s path. “Go your separate way, Witch Hunter. The girl is ours.”

With a flick of her wrist, Petra flung the dagger at her foe, striking her square between the eyes, The projectile burying itself up to the hilt in her nasal socket.
