Now time has come for new Star. U19 World Cup starting tomorrow. We are defending champions. Team India 4 times title holder. 16 teams to compete in this tournament hosted by South Africa. Priyank Garg lead Team India will start their campaign from 19th. Plenty of action & drama. Great platform for young kids to show case their talent. Cricketer with excellent record, captain who was actually captain, someone who instilled fighting spirit, build new team, provided ample opportunities to youngsters, had guts to take on mighty ones, expressive but not loud & cheap. He will get less than a year as president of BCCI but fans are happy. Can’t get more deserving candidate than this. On the other hand, all Sons, daughters, relatives are back. CoA gone, back to basics.

I feel Life should be the top priority. Sri lankan cricket team has landed in Pakistan for ODI & T-20 tour. You may feel this is so common. One or other team travels to other nation to play cricket. This is different. Sri Lankan team travelled to Pakistan 10 years back. They were attacked. It was terror attack. They were lucky to survive. It was brutal. Images, footage came out of that horrific incidence was traumatic. Match-officials were too targeted. All players & officials managed to survive. But 6 policemen & 2 common people were dead. That attack shock entire world. Sri Lankan players were really lucky to survive. Now after 10 years, they are travelling to Pakistan. This time, terror alert has been given to them. Still, they go ahead. They have landed in Pakistan. Hopefully everything will go well. Rather than taking risk for the life, they could have opted for neutral venue.

Technically sound batsman, stalwart, Mumbai’s run machine for so many years- should have been in Indian team. But never cribbed about it. He kept on making runs. After playing career, become coach. Very good commentator. Now South Africa’s batting coach. Huge honour. He has been into coaching for many years now, this stint is proud achievement. It will be Interesting to see him in SA’a dressing room, making plans for them against Indian attack.

Afghanistan has always been inspirational bunch. so much happening in their country but their brand of cricket has been amazing. Confident & very talened cricketers. Yesterday they beat Bangladesh. It's been long ride for them. Now they are test playing nation, away win is also precious. Sub continent conditions makes it more diffcult. Rashid khan, shining captaincy debut with 11 wickets & half century. each one of them contributed. Just 18 overs to defend for Bangladesh but Afghaistan, who always play aggressive cricket with competitive spirit sn**ch the victory in dying moments when clouds hovering & light fading in. It was dark out there but bright begining for Afghaistan. Their World Cup campaign is horrible but they have come back well.

tim paine & steven smith made debut in same test. Tim's career has gone wayward after few matches. Smith, who started as leg spinner, went on to become mainstay of Australian batting line up. Soon become captain. Smith was breaking records when ball tampering broke out. Smith was banend for a year. Smith comes back after finishing one year ban. Tim gets accidental captaincy after Smith was stripped off captaincy. Tim leads the unit when everything around looking down & out. 2019- under Tim's leadership Australian retain Ashes after 18 long years. Interestingly Smith literally pouring with the bat. Tim Paine leading the troops. what a sight, what a story!

Everybody makes mistakes. We had to face the consequences. Steven Smith, World Number One test Batsman & Australia's Test captain made serious mistake. He was found guilty in Ball tampering scandal which broke out during Capetown test between Australia & South Africa at Capetown between 24 to 28th March 2018. ICC banned him for one match & deduct his 75% match fees. But Cricket Australia handed one year ban to Steven Smith along with David Warner. Cameron Bancroft who actually used sandpaper on ball, gets 9 month punishment. Smith broke down during press conference at Sydney Airport. Cheater was the word associated with him. Smith didn't appeal against the ban. He worked hard & makes a grand comeback in ongoing Ashes Series. In comeback test, Smith scores hundred in both innings. He scored 92 before getting hurt. He missed third test due to concussion symptoms. ICC declared ratings & Smith in just 3 innings become World Number One test batsman. Today he scored another hundred. He is run machine & breaking record with each run. Smith made huge mistake but he has shown the world how to make comeback. Amazing case study! so much to learn from this young man as a human being.

Cricket is game of 11 players. But Allrounders can really make difference. Allrounder is someone who can bat, who can bowl & obviously who can field well too. When we say Allrounder, first name came to mind is Jack Kallis. Then Andrew Flintoff. We could not watch Sir Garfield Sobers & Ian Botham. We also couldn’t witness the Great Kapil Dev & Imran Khan. They can be specialist batsman or specialist bowler in any team. They are a force to reckon. After so many years, cricket has found genuine allrounder in Ben Stokes. Maverick kind of a player. Expressive, sharp, high on confidence, tremendous will power, great skill set with amazing fitness. We have seen him going nowhere but this season he has been revolution. Gem of a innings against Australia, traditional rivals. Always put team first. Energy & some raw passion. Hope he stays focus & provide some wonderful memories!

मी अकरावीत असताना हशीम अमलाने डेब्यू केला. क्रिकेटर म्हटल्यावर जी इमेज असते त्याला अमलाने पूर्णतः छेद दिला. कोलकाताच्या इडन गार्डन्सवर भरघोस दाढीवाल्या अमलाला नॅशनल कॅप देण्यात आली. तेव्हापासून तो धावांच्या राशी ओततोच आहे. मुस्लीम धर्माचं काटेकोरपणे पालन करणाऱ्या अमलाने कधीही धर्माचरणाचा बाऊ केला नाही. त्याला पाहिल्यावर एखाद्या ऋषींना बघितल्यासारखं वाटायचं. सगळ्या कल्लोळात असूनही त्याच्या व्यक्तिमत्वात शांतता भारलेली असायची. मी एकदाही त्याला कचकच करताना पाहिलं नाही. काल त्याने निवृत्ती घेतली. तेव्हा विचार आला, उणापुऱ्या पंधरा वर्षात अमलाचं काम करून झालंही. तो निघाला, आपलं काय चाललंय...

Innovative concept with some complex point system. With advent of T-20 & ODI cricket, Test cricket is fighting for survival. After long deliberations, ICC has come up with Championship model for Test matches. With Name & Number written on jersey- red ball affair will no longer be the same.Championship kicks off. Andy Flower, Grant Flower, Heath Streak, Paul & Brian Strang, Guy & Andy Whital, Gavin & John Rainnie, Eddo Brandes, Andy Blignaut, Murray Goodwin & Stuart Carlisle,Travis Friend- there were so many terrific cricketers. Zimbabwe, always competitive & professional side. Technically sound batsman, well built bowlers who bowl accurate lengths, some tricky spinners & amazing fielders. They were treat to watch. Zimbabwe cricket was on decline because of political turmoil. Financial constraints & racial discrimination took major toll. A well gelled unit collapsed. They show signs of comeback but yesterday ICC debarred them from International Cricket with immediate effect. Such a sad story......

I adore this man right from his debut. Genuine soul. A true Gentleman. He is extremely loyal to the game. Never saw him doing some crap things. Makes runs all over the World against top notch bowling attack on lively pitches & in tiring conditions. Test-ODI-T20 his run machine mode is always on. Terrific ambassador of the game. True role model. His behavior during those crunch World Cup Final is classic case study. There are so many cricketers who came & perform but very very few shows a way how to conduct.
