Give yourself the gift of a possible positive birth ✨

That’s what my labor preparation techniques are here for.

An easy way to build your birth confidence and help your body get in alignment for an easier labor.

Because you made the decision that you don’t want an epidural, right? (That’s why you found my page)

But it’s more to it than just deciding not to get the epidural. There’s a level of preparation that HAS to come with it.

Comment PREPARE and I’ll send over the link to the guide so you can get started preparing today!

In full transparency....

I sometimes feel odd telling people how much I enjoyed birth.

Because I think society has turned birth into something that we fear, instead of something that we are genuinely able to enjoy (I mean helloooo it is the way that we bring our sweet babies into the world).

But I learned through labor preparation that I can actually reframe what I think about birth and manifest that into a positive experience.

And now it’s your turn.

Comment PREPARE and I’ll send you the link to my guide to support you.

The power of trust ✨

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that experience.

As uncomfortable as it was, it was literally what I needed to push forward and believe in myself.

Even when others told me it wasn’t possible.

Labor preparation is about the commitment we put in and knowing what to do get our minds and bodies ready, prior to labor starting.

But rather than stab in the dark and waste time on google, you can have techniques that actually work.

Here’s the truth…

➡️ Having an unmedicated birth REQUIRES PRACTICE ⬅️

〰️ If you want to experience an unmedicated birth, you have to actually put in work, during pregnancy, to make that happen.

〰️ If you want to avoid an excruciatingly painful birth, you have to lay the groundwork through labor preparation to ACTUALLY enjoy it.

Enjoyable unmedicated births typically don’t ‘just happen’. You do have to mentally and physically prepare for them, the way you would a championship.

I would love to help support you. Comment PREP so I can send you the link to my guide 🫶🏾.

How different would your birth look if you took the time to prepare in an intentional way?

Remember:
Step 1 is the desire to have an unmedicated birth.

Step 2 is actually preparing yourself mentally and physically.

That peaceful, in control birth without medication doesn’t happen without intentional preparation. (In most cases)

If you’re interested in learning how to prepare to make your birth easier for you, then I invite you to check out my labor preparation guide.

It’s a delicate balance of trusting yourself AND preparing yourself.

A lot of women who want an unmedicated birth may feel like they have the first part down…but the second part is what trips them up.

Labor is intense. Like the most intense thing you will probably ever go through.

It requires so much of us physically and mentally.

When that first contraction hits, I want you to feel confident and ready for marathon training they don’t call it labor for nothing 😉.

Comment PREP so I can show you an easy way to make your labor experience a manageable one ❤️.

No lie, this is probably the most important thing you’ll read on IG today

This thread is the literal reason why I got into birth work.

Please take this seriously, as the state of our maternal healthcare system is in the trash 🗑️.

✨Don’t be afraid, just educate yourself.

I’m so happy you’re here🌻

The process of creating your birth plan is more important than the plan itself.

(I actually like to call it birth preferences instead of birth plan)

The reason for this is that we get to learn our personal preferences and our desires for our births through:

✨ Birth education ✨

In preparation for your labor and birth, there is nothing more important than education and knowledge.

Educate yourself on the different stages of labor, on your options for pain relief, on what to expect and what choices you can make along the way.

And it’s great because you’re doing it before you’re deep in the intensity of labor. When possible, we like to get clear about these things before labor because we can typically make better decisions.

The process of creating your birth preferences is a powerful exercise in education. Things to consider include:

✨ How do you feel about pitocin to speed up labor?
✨ How do you feel about invasive interventions like forceps or vacuum?
✨ How do you feel about the possibility of an episiotomy?
✨ What will you use for pain relief? TENS machine, heat packs, shower, acupressure, epidural, etc?
✨ What about after baby is delivered - delayed cord clamping, the golden hour, active management of the third stage? Who will cut the cord?
✨ What about in the event of a caesarean? Do you want the drapes lowered to see baby enter the world? Do you want the room to be quiet and as dark as possible?

Make sure your support people and your provider know your preferences going in. BUT, as always, you have the right to change your mind at any time - consent must always be given, and can be taken away.

The power is in educating yourself and your support person during the pregnancy period.

➡️ be sure to follow for more support with your unmedicated birth.

If you want an enjoyable birth, then it’s imperative to learn these things.

We can no longer simply “show up” to our births. We have to take responsibility for educating ourselves on the process and actively doing things that will make our experience more manageable and more in our control.

I’ve had 2 babies without an epidural and let me tell you, I didn’t get there by “hoping”.

🌻 I learned
🌻 I applied the knowledge that I learned
🌻 And I let God lead me

If you’re looking to have a birth that you can enjoy, it takes effort…but the reward is so worth it!

Do not run to the hospital at the first sign of labor.

The hospital will put you on an invisible clock and recommend unnecessary interventions in an effort to get you in and out of their hospital bed.

💡 But if you labor at home as long as possible you allow your body to naturally dilate, making it more likely that you’ll have your unmedicated birth by the time you get to the hospital.

✨ Now how the heck can you learn to labor at home effectively and less anxiously?

➡️ Comment PREPARE below and I’ll send you the link to grab my Labor Preparation Guide so you can learn how to actually enjoy birth!

Ps - what I teach in this labor prep guide is exactly how I was able to avoid an epidural with both of my births. And it’s also what Ellie (a first time mom from South Africa) was able to do after reading and applying the practices that I teach in the guide.

This is only part of my birth stories.

There are so many layers to it that I wasn’t able to share in this one post (I do go into more detail in my labor preparation guide).

But here’s the point, the work that we put into getting our mind and body ready for birth, WORKS.

It might not always go the way we planned, but in most cases the experience is a positive one.

➡️ If you want to improve your confidence as you approach your birth and learn a simple routine that you can do daily, that will strengthen your mental and physical stamina…..then comment PREPARE and I’ll send you over the link to my guide.

We have to stop normalizing “emergency csections”

I’ve said this before. It’s not that things don’t happen in birth that require medical intervention. But it has become the norm and women are being gaslit to think that the hospital saved them from an emergency situation, when the emergency situation was CREATED by them.

The best way to avoid this is to learn and research and invest in birth education.

You’ll see a difference in the way you view birth.m and I believe all women are deserving of that 🫶🏾
