Even though it was physically hurting not to be able to be in Beirut today, I'm still immensely proud to be the daddy of my first TV documentary. Huge thanks to for trusting me to accomplish this big project, to for always having my sound and my back during every single shoot, to .alam for being the best drone pilot in Lebanon and providing us with these juicy aerials of this beautiful ruined city. So I got up super extra early today to catch that beautiful sunrise at 6am. The sun had just crawled over the mountain peaks of Tripoli, unfortunately it was a bit foggy so I need to look out for some clearer sky in the next days. But here it is ladies and gentlemen: the Corniche of Mina and Tripoli. Watch with sound, I've put some effort into the sound design ❤️

The last few days were really tough. I was at in bed with a nasty food poisoning spending most of my time on the toilet, sleeping out of exhaustion or trying to catch up on rehydrating my body with anything I could find. Being sick in a foreign country is always something but being sick when you're alone and by yourself is especially hard. Travelling and living abroad isn't always the glam and shine of Instagram, it's very often also pretty ... sh*tty (touché). Today I took the first walk outside of the house since three days and was lucky to catch some nice shots on the marina of Mina. The fishermen were incredibly kind to me and happy to be photographed. Do you wanna see some more of these?

It's been six months today since the Beirut port explosion. On August 4th 2020, 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate detonated and killed more than 200 people, injuring over 6,000 and destroyed entire neighbourhoods in Lebanon's capital. In neighbourhoods surrounding the port like the popular pub and bar neighbourhood Mar Mikhael, most houses are still destroyed. Thousands of people have lost their homes, their businesses and reconstruction is only moving forward extremely slowly.

Six months after the blast, not a single person has been found guilty, no one held accountable. Lebanon's investigative judge has paused his work due to the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown. But not only that. Lebanon is also without a functioning government since six months now since the then-Prime Minister resigned after the explosion. Without a government, the country is sliding deeper and deeper into an economic meltdown.

Hey guys, I've been feeling absolutely shocked by the current situation in Italy, especially because I have so many friends all over the country. This video of some pre-rona beauty of Venice should give everyone of you lovely Italians a little bit of hope and a reminder of how things were before the lockdown. You guys are great and you WILL recover. Much love!

(Yes I know, it has nothing to do with the Middle East but Venice was once Europe's portal to the Levant so bare with me. I'm still working on my video(s) about Yemen, but I've been also been feeling quite creative the past days, trying to edit some older footage from my last trip to Venice a few months ago. I guess you can feel the melancholy of the past days in the video.)
