……At 4:30 PM EDT, the Outer Eye-wall of Hurricane Milton Was Approaching the West-Central Florida Coast near Sarasota, Bradenton and St. Petersburg…..

As I just viewed the Tampa Bay radar, Hurricane Milton was approaching the above mentioned coastline of Florida as a pretty good pace. It appeared to me that an outer eye-wall was just a few miles offshore.

The wind will dramatically and suddenly pick up in strong feeder bands and of course in the eyewall. Please do not go outside, if you happen to end up inside the eye, as equally strong winds from the opposite direction could return with little warning. The really big surge with Hurricane is beginning now as the center moves on shore.

…..Dangerous Hurricane Milton Increases to 180 mph Top Winds…Not Finished Yet!

At 8 pm EST this evening, Hurricane Milton had increased to 180 mph, With a central pressure down to 897 mb or 26.49” of mercury and was moving east at 10 mph. NHC Miami predicts that Milton will peak around 185 mph a little after midnight tonight. A slow decrease in highest winds is predicted on Tuesday and Wednesday as this massive storm turns toward the east northeast and then to the northeast. However, Milton is still forecast to be a Category 4 or high Cagtegory 3 Hurricane before landfall.

Landfall has now been slowed down by about 6 hours by the Hurricane Center, and now is expected to be near the central Florida Coastline around 1 am Thursday morning. As we saw with Helene, night falling hurricanes present greater dangers because you just can’t see the water rising. Evacuations from the central Florida coastal areas(Tampa-St. Pete) and southward to Ft. Myers and Naples should be completed as soon as possible. Local storm surge warnings are for the ocean to rise 8-12 feet above normal tide levels in the worst hit areas. Please see your local warnings in your areas.

A forecast map of the latest storm forecast track is included with this post. Since yesterday and earlier today, these forecast tracks have not change much.
