No Bobs Allowed

As promised; a year past its release date, two years after its recording, it's the episode (I at least) have been waiting for. I still remember the excitement of recording this with my two best friends, and how right it felt to sit down and joke around and make fun of each other for an hour. To me that's what No Bobs Allowed is about. From listening back to this it really gives the sense that we've been ripping on each other for decades, the energy is just so good. Seeing Tyler having come so far from when the show started and he would get nervous just being on the mic, and Joe taking in stride the beating he got on the last episode he appeared on, makes me so proud I could help make this show happen. As far as the episode goes, all I can say, is that it's an instant classic. I've been saying it's one of my favorites for literally years now. I'm glad I can finally get it released. Its been a long time coming.

Well, as is probably abundantly clear at this point (over a year since Tyler was supposed to release Episode 20 :p), production on No Bobs Allowed has stopped completely. Around December of 2022 we recorded our last episode of season 2, and have now agreed it will be the final episode.

That leaves approximately 6 episodes unreleased. Going forward I (Avery) will self produce the remainder of the recorded content and release it as I am able. Considering I will be doing this remotely while travelling, I wouldn't hold your breaths. But considering the sporadic nature of the show's history in general, I'm sure it's no surprise. For anyone who is still interested, this is simply an announcement that there are still unreleased episodes to come, and that they will constitute the conclusion of the show.

Perhaps if luck is on my side I'll get those episodes out by July of next year 😏. Funny how life goes. Another cycle of the time warp. Looks like the entire rest of the show will get sucked into it. By the time episode 20 gets released it'll be over 2 years old. Here's hoping it does.

I do also want to extend a special thanks to Leonid Rarov for being the secondary architect to the shows creation. A strong argument could be made that him leaving the show is responsible for it ending prematurely. His insight and no f***s given mentality contributed infinitely to what No Bobs Allowed came to be. For this we will always be grateful. Seeing now the show's conclusion, it is more clear than ever that his presence and perspective truly helped define the spirit of the show. And as is seen in his absence, a show produced after his departure is no longer appropriate to bear the name of No Bobs Allowed.

I mean technically it is the June episode... just the June episode from last year... The time warp continues with an episode even more relevant now than it was then! Boding well for the rest of the season, Intern Joe even says it's the best one yet. But that's because he hasn't heard the demo for S2E6. All in due time. But this really is the business end of No Bobs Allowed.

This episode centers around an article on internet surveillance and data collection, which raises some interesting issues about the rights of the individual to privacy versus the obligation of the state to protect its citizens. Besides a great discussion which results on the politics of rights vs. obligations, there's this super not important ('cause it's Avery who writes the descriptions), Bob of the Week segment that Avery may or may not be the target of... But totally not something important to the episode. And definitely not the best part. Dammit... I'm not even safe on my birthday. Enjoy y'all. It's another a spicy one. This time the scoville units are scorpion pepper status.

Wow. We're back finally. That last episode on Ukraine really took it out of me. And I got covid. It's Avery by the way. Tyler did almost just get covid tho. Haha, nerd. Still we have the April episode ready here for you guys. It's June you say..? Scuffed is punk. Never forget that.

This month's episode kicks off our summer series "Chronicles of the Time Warp"; the original set of episodes intended to start Season 2. Since the start of Season 2 got so much more serious than we intended, (thanks Russia, jeez) we're glad to get back to the shows roots of busting balls and having fun, rather than apparently doing geopolitical news coverage. So settle in and enjoy our 4/20 special, and stay tuned for episodes 2 and 3 of the time warp coming in June and July. Ironically recorded in June and July of last year. Funny how that works out.

All jokes aside, we sit down to dig deeper into the roots of the tension between Russia and Ukraine, and really get Leo’s personal perspective on what’s going on.

Whats more, if you've seen any of the news coverage from today concerning the evacuation of 50,000+ Ukrainians into Russia, you will certainly find Leo’s analysis and predictions on the state of Ukraine surprising in its accuracy. Recorded two weeks ago, we were interested to see how the situation would evolve up to the release, but from following the media coverage in that time, we have only gained a deeper appreciation for the difference between how mainstream media portrays a conflict and how it is actually experienced and felt by those it impacts.
