Wanderer Inspiration!

Little is known of the puzzling figure referred to as The Wanderer who visits the friends in the first book of Idonia, so trying to design them was quite the challenge. All I knew was that the figure would appear hooded as not to reveal their true appearance until later in the series, and from there I simply did Google image searches for various hooded figures to get ideas of what they would actually look like. Being that this is a science fantasy world I sought to blend techy and fantastical elements while still keeping a traditionally ominous, grim reaper like vibe. These are a few of the most influential pieces I found in my time of searching that went into the final design of The Wanderer.

Huge thanks to and for creating their works. I wasn't able to find the creators of the other two, but I really appreciate all of them so much for giving me inspiration on the character design.

Daily Drop: Raven Man Concepts

To call them concepts would almost be unfair. Each of these original works represents a phase of The Raven's evolution over the 10+ year journey as the series has progressed, and thus as befits the world of Idonia each is very much a real version that exists in one of the universes. There is much still to come of the Raven, but his message has never changed. Death is Nigh.

Daily Drop: Pins and Key-chain!

We're insanely excited to show off the first look at enamel Raven Man pin and die-cast antique gold Leghtus Pin and Key-chain that's part of the Swag Bag on Kickstarter! As the author I can't tell you the joy it brings me to see pieces of my work coming to life, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. We still have the Leghtian Coin and Eternal Knot to show, more concept art leading up to the reveal of Raven Man and The Wanderer, and Chapter 4 going live for preview this Saturday! The feeling is truly surreal, and I'm so honored I get to share it with you. Thank you all for joining this incredible journey.

Raven Man Inspiration:

As promised we're going to be drop daily updates this week and next, and for this special Labor Day we wanted to share of the works that helped inspire us as to what Raven Man would look like in the world of Idonia. We'd also like to give special credit to the artists that created them and thank them for their inspiration.

The first is a plague doctor by Alena Tsymbal (unable to find an Instagram account, but you can check out her work on DeviantArt). The second piece is Raven Man by (You can check out more of her work on DeviantArt and Facebook.) The final image is Mechraven, an impressive piece by the insanely talented .artist (He did an entire series on organic mechs, which is incredible, along with countless other works. Check out his page for more amazing works.)

This week we'll also be showing off some of our Raven Man concept pieces, and you can see how he has evolved over the years. Stay tuned for more!!

Stickers and Prologue Info!

This post is coming far later in the day than we'd planned, but the prologue is officially live and just in time we have some cool Rise Publishing stickers to show off!! We'll actually be giving these away in the coming days in connection what made us late getting the prologue live...

So yesterday instead of scheduling the prologue for publishing along with the social media posts we actually did something super cool we've been keeping a secret. We filmed a Q&A session about the world of Idonia AND the upcoming Kickstarter!! That's right everyone we will be launching a Kickstarter campaign to produce some extra memorabilia for the book, and we submitted it for launch as well.

As we said 8-24 would be a big news drop, and we're glad to finally be sharing it in this late evening hour! Stay tuned for more details on the Q&A Session and the Kickstarter in the next few days!!
