This is an update regarding the several fires that are currently burning in northern California, in Lassen and Modoc counties.
GOLD FIRE:
The Gold Fire east of Highway 139 and south of Adin is 21,870 acres and 65% contained as of 10:14 a.m. and has been burning for seven days. So far there has been 13 structures destroyed, 5 damaged, 3 personnel have been injured. Currently there are 2,142 personnel assigned comprising of 46 crews. There currently 19 helicopters, 170 engines, 46 Dozers and 46 Water Tenders assigned to this incident.
Evacuation Orders are in place for the following:
Zone B – Areas south of Ash Valley Rd., west of Spooner Rd., east of Hwy 139, and north of Termo Grasshopper Rd.
Zone G – Area north of Ash Valley Rd., to Rail Canyon north to Modoc County line and West to Hwy 139.
Zone H-1 – Area north of Ash Valley Rd., to Knox Mountain north to Modoc County Line, and West to Rail Canyon.
Evacuation Warnings:
Zone C – The Evacuation Warning has been lifted for the areas west of Hwy 139, south of Haydenhill Rd, east of Anderson Ranch Rd/Dixie Valley Rd and north of Long Flat Rd.
Zone D-1 – The Evacuation Warning has been lifted foe the area of Ash Valley Rd at Williams Rd. south to Mallard Dr. west to Prairie Rd. south to Termo Grasshopper Rd, and West on Termo Grasshopper Rd to Spooner Rd and north to Ash Valley Rd.
Zone F-2 – The Evacuation Warning has been lifted for the area south of Lonkey Hill from Hwy 139 west to US Forest Service Rd 54/McClelland Rd, and north to Haydenhill Rd.
Zone H-2 – Area north of Ash Valley Rd. at US-395 north to the Modoc County Line and West to Knox Mountain.
Zone I – Cal Pines Upper Hill units 4 and 5.
Zone J - Area North of the Lassen/Modoc County line from Knox Flat Rd. north to Rail Canyoun, east to W. Messenger, south to Ash Valley Rd. and south to the Lassen/Modoc County line.
ROAD CLOSURES:
Ash Valley Road at Rail Canyon
Ash Valley Road west of Williams Road
Forest Service Road 38N04 at Hwy 139
HOG FIRE:
The previously covered Hog Fire along Highway 36 near Susanville is now at 9,545 acres and 69% contained as of 6:57 a.m. and has been burning for 9 days. There are currently 1,830 personnel and 34 crews assigned to this fire. There are currently 150 Engines, 10 Dozers and 33 Water Tenders assigned to this incident. Two structures have been destroyed.
EVACUATION ORDERS:
All evacuation orders have been lifted with the exception of the US Forest Service closures and restricted areas.
EVACUTATION WARNINGS:
- Community of Lake Forest Estates, both North and South side of highway 36 from A-1 Willard Creek.
- Junction SR-36 and SR-44 east to the A-1 SR-36 junction, the encompasses River Bench, Britt Lane, Thumper Hill Road, and Ridge Top Road.
- West of Brake Check Area on SR-36, to the junction of SR-36 and SR-44 this includes residents served by Phil Dow Road.
ROAD CLOSURES:
County Road A-1 is closed from North of the water tanks.
JULY COMPLEX FIRE:
The July Complex Fire which includes several fire in and around Lava Bed National Park is now at 70,622 Acres and is 30% contained as of 12:01 p.m. These were started by dry lightning as thunderstorms rolled through the area last week.
The fire is burning east of Highway 139 near Lava Beds National Monument.
The community of Tionesta is still under a MANDATORY evacuation.
Evacuation Orders and Warnings have been lifted for Tulelake area, residents with property bordering the forest or Lava Beds, all Copic, Panhandle and Peninsula areas south of Hwy 139.

The Cottonwood Fire, started 7/28/20 off Hwy 152 and Romero Visitors Center, west of Santa Nella, in Merced County, is 788 Acres and 50% contained.
