Kenya is an East African nation spanning more than 224,000 sq.miles (582,000 sq. It is situated on the equator and bordered by five countries: Uganda (to the west), Sudan (to the northwest), Somalia ( to the northeast), and Tanzania (to the south). Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, is located along the border between Kenya and Tanzania. Kenya enjoys a tropical climate. The costal area is warm and humid. Rainfall in Kenya is seasonal with most rains falling in between the months of April and June, and shorter rains occurring between October and December. Kenya has a population of more than 38 million people with about 4 million residing in its capital city, Nairobi. There are 42 ethnic groups who call Kenya home. Kenya's official languages are: English and Kiswahili. The republic of Kenya is a multiparty democracy with a national Assemby. The constitution declares the president as both the head of state and head of government.
