Ok, I know the text on the reel is maybe a bit harsh, forgive me, but I needed to get your attention!
See, we’re all too familiar with blaming the algorithm for our lack of growth on certain platforms. But being honest - the real culprit is probably the content you’re putting out there.
The screenshot in the reel, taken today from my client’s account, shows a 154% increase in reach to non-followers. Over the past 30 days, I’ve tested various types of content with mixed results. Overall, we’ve seen a massive boost in reach, giving us clear insights for our next strategy phase.
Yes, the algorithm is constantly changing, and sure, it’s tougher to grow now than it was a few years back. But that doesn’t excuse boring, lazy content. Your social media game needs to be sharp, engaging and on brand.
Here’s a Few Easy Ways to Change Up Your Content Strategy and Get More Eyes on Your Business:
Get Your Team Involved: Involve your team in content creation. Showcase their talents, host takeovers, or have them participate in trends or challenges. This not only diversifies your content but also highlights the people behind your brand, humanising your business and building a stronger connection with your audience.
Stand Out from Competitors:
Look at what your competitors are doing and DON’T do that. Stand out, don’t blend in! If you need inspiration, take it from other industries. Think about the content you enjoy, why you enjoy it, and brainstorm ways you can make it work for your brand.
Collaborations/Takeovers: Not enough businesses are taking advantage of this feature. Partner with influencers or industry peers for content collaborations or social media takeovers. This can introduce your brand to new audiences and add fresh perspectives. Collaboration over competition every day. Trust me, this works.

I’ve spent the last 12+ years working various roles in PR, Media & Marketing.
These are some of the most important lessons I’ve learnt that can be applied to any business or industry.
1. Customer experience is crucial for success
2. Get to know your audience, I mean really know them
3. 80% done is better than 100% perfect

Too many of you are obsessing over follower counts instead of the metrics that really matter.
Let’s break it down:
Engagement Rate: How actively are your current followers interacting with your content? Focus on boosting your engagement to make your community vibrant before you think about expanding it.
Reach: How many unique profiles are seeing your posts? More eyeballs mean more brand awareness which is crucial for growth.
Remember, potential customers need to see your marketing message 7-14 times before they decide to engage or purchase. 📈

I’ve always shied away from the spotlight. @cutebutdeadlyzara will attest to the fact that even getting my nails photographed makes me feel awkward 😂.
Back in school, I loved singing in choirs and musicals, but stage fright would make me physically ill.
So when I moved to Scotland at 19, I left that hobby behind.
Fast forward to last weekend—I was asked to speak at a conference. Despite knowing the topic inside out, the anxiety was real, I had a knot in my stomach for weeks.
But guess what? I survived!
Yes, I had to read from my notes, but I did it.
Am I glad? Absolutely.
In a rush to do it again? Not really.
But this experience is a step towards getting over my fear.
Anyone who knows me knows I’m someone who loves to chat; sometimes it’s hard to get me to shut up TBH—so my fear of public speaking is a bit baffling. Funny enough, I once had a PR job where we had to do a weekly “news roundup” on camera and post it across our personal socials—which also made me die a little inside. (Comment if you want to see that—but also maybe don’t because I find it extremely embarrassing! 😅) But I’m learning to push myself outside of my comfort zone.
So here I am now, putting this on Instagram for everyone to see, to keep myself accountable and to show my fellow business owners that growth happens when we push ourselves outside of our limits.
Now I’m off to hide my phone and bury myself in work for the day because I can feel the anxiety creeping up, so I need to hit post before it gets the better of me!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
This hasn’t actually happened to me, because my clients appreciate my experience & advice.
However, I have seen this happen before and if I’m honest back in the day I have been tempted to do it.
Here’s just some of the reasons why buying followers is a bad idea.
•Decreases engagement rate
•Damages credibility
•Risk of account suspension
•Attracts bots & fake accounts
•Reduces organic reach
•Misleads potential real followers
•It’s easy to spot fake followers, which can hurt your reputation

I don’t know about you but I could have done without that today!
I was convinced I’d been hacked, anyone else?
Turns out it’s just another Meta meltdown 🙄 so brace yourselves for more glitches over the next few days.
A reminder never rely solely on socials to market your business.
What if Instagram shut down tomorrow, do you have other platforms or channels to reach your customers?
Diversify your strategy: explore email campaigns, learn how to do SEO or get creative with content marketing.
What’s your back up plan for when the socials go dark?

Teaming up with Pizza Geeks for the launch of their latest spot on Easter Road.
The brief? Think 80’s nostalgia, gaming, arcade, and movies.
To turn this vision into reality, we enlisted the creative genius of Artisan Artworks.
Having collaborated with Frank and Mandy on numerous projects over the years, I was confident they could infuse the space with the perfect blend of retro vibes and contemporary flair.
Their attention to detail and knack for capturing the essence of a theme are unparalleled.
Pizza Geeks will be opening their new restaurant bar this Saturday the 2nd of December!

Whilst I would usually advise clients to be planning their Christmas marketing strategy months in advance, if you’re thinking it’s too late then keep reading…
Last minute holiday shoppers contribute to a significant portion of most business’ festive sales. So don’t be fooled into thinking you’ve missed the boat on it, just yet.
My advice is to keep plugging away with your advertising so you can be sure to get the attention of those late shoppers.
So here are 5 marketing tips to help you:
𝟙. 𝔻𝕣𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕄𝕠𝕣𝕖 𝕊𝕒𝕝𝕖𝕤 𝕋𝕙𝕣𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙 𝔼𝕞𝕒𝕚𝕝
Your existing customer base is the perfect place to start when trying to drum up those last minute sales before Christmas. Whether it’s highlighting those last minute stocking fillers, encouraging purchases of gift cards or simply showcasing what products you have to offer and who for - email marketing is one of the best and sometimes underrated tools to reach your current customers.
𝟚. ℂ𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕥𝕖 𝔽𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝔾𝕚𝕗𝕥 𝔾𝕦𝕚𝕕𝕖𝕤
If you’re just creating your Christmas marketing plan, then you can probably sympathise with those shoppers who are also late to the gift-getting game. One of the best ways for e-commerce and brick-and-mortar shops to support last-minute customers is by offering gift guides. Create a gift basket or assortment of items that complement one another and showcase it prominently on your website or in your shop.
This can be utilised as part of your email marketing, across social media platforms and even included in a blog.
𝟛. 𝕆𝕗𝕗𝕖𝕣 𝔾𝕚𝕗𝕥 𝕎𝕣𝕒𝕡𝕡𝕚𝕟𝕘 & ℙ𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕕 𝔾𝕚𝕗𝕥 ℕ𝕠𝕥𝕖𝕤
Another top tip is to provide gift wrapping and/or handwritten notes as an option. Not only does this add a real personalised touch but it will also help enhance the customer’s experience
