Hero Alert

We're proud to recognize our incredible first responders for their heroic lifesaving efforts!

At the February 5 Board of Commissioners meeting, Nags Head police officers and Fire and Rescue personnel were honored for their quick actions that saved two lives in separate cardiac arrest emergencies.

💙 December 23, 2024: Police Officers Kana Hashigami & Terry Flaugher, along with Fire Captain James Moseman, Lieutenant Hayden Poulin, Firefighters Will Roepcke & José Ramirez, and Dare County EMS, worked together to save Thomas Wayne Umphlett after he collapsed behind the wheel. Thankfully, he’s making a remarkable recovery and was able to personally thank his heroes!

❤️ January 29, 2025: Captain Moseman, Lieutenant Poulin, and Firefighter Ramirez once again stepped up, successfully resuscitating a resident in cardiac arrest at a local nursing facility.

Mayor Ben Cahoon summed it up best: “This is the kind of moment that fills us with pride. Our first responders perform miracles every day.”

We are beyond grateful for these dedicated men and women who serve and protect our community. Join us in celebrating their bravery! 🎉
