These specific units have a “Hi-Way Riser” lightbar on them. The bar can flash both folded and unfolded, allowing troopers to drive safely with emergency lights on. Once the vehicle is stopped, troopers hit a switch and the lightbar unfolds, extending approximately 6ft higher above the vehicle. This allows for better visibility from a distance. Especially in high traffic areas, such as cities around NYS.
Bonus Info: Most troopers who use these vehicles equipped with the Hi-Way Riser bar, have complaints. The road noise is one, and the fact that in the winter, it can frequently get stuck either open or closed due to temperatures and snow/ice. This lightbar was designed to best be used in cities. Why? Because the extra 6ft of visible lighting, allows vehicles to see the emergency vehicle over other cars in traffic on busy city streets. With most highways being open and visibility not being an issue, most say that it is a waste of resources to put it on Thruway Trooper Vehicles.
What are your thoughts on this new lightbar?

Vehicle Rollover in Coeymans
On Saturday, July 15th, a call went out around 22:00 to Coeymans Fire, Albany County Paramedics and Ravena Rescue for a vehicle rollover at 42 Main Street. Upon arrival by first responders, they confirmed the rollover and shut the road down between Sewer Plant Access Rd. and James Dr. Responders confirmed 2 vehicles were involved, a red Ford F150 and a silver Dodge RAM. Medics and EMS were canceled fairly quickly, as there were no injuries. Tow was soon to arrive on the scene as well, and turned the RAM back on it's wheels, where Firefighters then cleared the truck, disconnected the battery, and it was later towed away.
While driving North on Main St, the Dodge RAM went around a semi-blind corner and hit the F150, which was parked on northbound lanes facing southbound on Main St, and also parked halfway in the road. After trying to swerve to avoid the F150, the RAM smashed the F150, and came to a stop on it's side ~30ft behind it in the southbound lane.
Again, no injuries reported, and the road was opened ~40min after the call went out.
Albany County Sheriff as well as Greene County Sheriff were also on the scene.

Selkirk’s Fire Police Trucks (2956 & 2951) all shined up sittin’ pretty during drill night in the Glenmont Plaza. 🚒🧼🫧💦
Fire police members drove around the district that night talking and planning road closures and alternate routes that would keep both the public and firefighters safe during the unlikely event of a fire call.

High Speed Pursuit ended in Bethlehem.
A high-speed pursuit just came to an end on the Delmar Bypass and Emere Ave intersection after Albany County, Sheriff, New York State, police, Coeymans, police, and bethlehem police were chasing a gray older model Chevy Silverado.
The chase was heard over the radio starting around the Coeymans line on old Quarry Road, and made its way to Route 32 all the way down to Elsmere Ave. Just before the intersection, stop sticks were put out and the Silverado barreled through the intersection T-boning another pick up truck before coming to a stop about 200 feet down the bypass.
The whereabouts, and knowing of the suspect or unknown as of right now.
The status of the driver of the other pick up truck that was involved is also unknown.
Use caution when approaching the delmar bypass and Elsmere Ave intersection, as traffic is slowed due to obvious reasons.

Large Mulch Fire in Selkirk
On July 30th, around 12:00, Selkirk Fire was dispatched to a mulch fire in the area of 212 Jericho Rd. Upon 2903's arrival, a large un-attended mulch/rubbish fire was burning in the back gated yard of the property. Engine 47 arrived soon after dropping 2 lines, and fire personnel first worked on stopping the spread of the fire and then the main burn. The fire was extinguished very quickly and no damage was done to any structures. Except, the shed that the homeowner stated they were burning which then lead to the spread of flames. No injuries were reported on scene either.

NASCAR Cup Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
On the 17th of July, I had the pleasure of going to NHMS for my yearly Cup Series race. This year, I brought the camera and did my thing. I was very limited as to where I could go without a media pass... so most of the photos were taken through the fence out of turn 4. Still, I got some great shots and who knows, maybe one of these days, ill be able to get a media pass and get even better ones!
It was a great race, MTJ was dominate leading 172 of 301 laps but a late race call ruined his chances as he got stuck in traffic. C Bell got the W and now we have 14 different winners this 2022 Season!
