This is, in my opinion, the craziest, most disturbing (and disgusting) movie of the year that will leave you asking "WTF did I watch?" at the end.

Tbh, I just discovered this movie because of Tiktok. Since then, I checked the premise, and started to be interested up until suddenly I invited my partner to watch the movie on a cinema. And yes, she went to the point telling me "I don't want to watch anymore." And I understand her. 😅 (At least she know Demi Moore than I am)

Back to the movie, I mean damn. You know the story is good when you are up to your seat the whole movie not thinking the duration you are into it. From the introduction of Demi Moore's character, Elisabeth Sparkle, up to her other self, Sue, and another (omg this freaking monster whatever), your interest is slowly increasing as the movie goes on. No wonder why it won the Best Screenplay award at Cannes Festival 2024.

The cinematography, music, sound design, and especially the makeup effects of this movie is top-notch. The freaking transformation of Demi Moore's character once s**t gets real is horrifying AF!

The only thing you can learn about The Substance is to be contented with the beauty you have, and accept the reality that all of it will eventually fade away, whether you like it or not. And also, FOLLOW THE F*CKING INSTRUCTIONS!

Alien: Romulus goes back to claustrophobic horror as Alien with a little touch of Aliens, Prometheus, and Don't Breathe. With Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead 2013, Don't Breathe) as the director, I knew this would be a good horror movie! I'm glad they also used practical effects on the creatures, which gives more realism to the film. The third act is freaking bonkers which I didn't expect!

One issue I have are the callbacks. There is one iconic dialogue used in the movie which made me cringe. I think it's unnecessary to include that.

I am a fan of the Alien franchise, and Aliens is still my most favorite movie of all time until now. Alien: Romulus is a treat for us fans, especially that it has more horror/thriller elements than huge plot lines.

I can say that I had a good time watching Deadpool and Wolverine. I can never think of other actors playing Deadpool and Wolverine other than Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, respectively. 👏👏

For a tribute, if Spiderman has No Way Home, X-Men has Deadpool and Wolverine.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the movie my childhood self wanted. ❤️❤️

This is one of my most anticipated movie of 2024. And boy, it delivers so well! Nung bata ako, kung ano na lang ang makuha kong laruan, pinaglalaban ko. Naalala ko yung self ko na yun habang pinapanood itong movie na to.

I want to dive deep sa lore ng Hollow Earth nung napanood ko ang Godzilla vs. Kong. And ngayon sa The New Empire, mostly sa Hollow Earth ang setting. Problem lang is hindi ko naa-appreciate yung laki ni Kong at ang mga "monsters" na nabubuhay dun. It's like parang normal size lang sila. Speaking of the monsters and Titans, and if you expect seeing only Godzilla, Kong, and Scar King, you're definitely in for a surprise! I'm sure magiging masaya di lang mga fans ng Monsterverse, pati na rin yung mga fans ng "Showa" era ng Japanese Godzilla!

Medyo nabitin lang ako sa climactic scene, I felt like I want some more! Di ko alam kung maiksi talaga yung laban ng mga monsters or nag-expect lang ako ng masyadong mahaba. And there are times na I felt na Planet of the Apes tong pinapanood ko. Wala naman akong issue dun kahit mas fan ako ni Godzilla, as long as maganda ang takbo ng story. If they make another one movie for the Monsterverse, I hope they focus on Godzilla naman.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I went to the theater not expecting a serious movie, but to make myself enjoy and entertain with the monster brawls. And it definitely paid off. Medyo bitin lang, pero it's enough for me to be satisfied. My girlfriend enjoyed it too (considering she's a fan of Kong 😝), so it's a plus one.

DIWATA PARES

It’s been a long time since my last post. But I believe na worth the review itong trending na paresan ngayon. 🙂

Siguro alam na ng karamihan itong Diwata Pares. Along Diokno Blvd lang siya, bago mag Senate. Dinadayo siya ngayon dahil sa ino-offer nilang Pares Overload; Sabaw ng pares with Lechon Kawali at Chicharong Bulaklak as laman, with Unli Rice, Unli sabaw, and free softdrinks. And lahat ng yun is for 100 pesos only! Well, di ko na pinatagal yung hype at pumunta na agad ako para masubukan to.

Well first of all, ang unhygienic ng lugar nila. Considering nasa tabing kalsada lang sila literal, and sa may bakanteng lote lang yung lutuan nila. If maselan ka sa place, siguro ekis na to para sayo. Pero talagang dinadayo siya at pinipilahan, mapa gabi man o madaling araw hindi siya nawawalan ng customer. Sana lang makakuha sila ng matinong pwesto if ever man magtuloy tuloy ang hype nila.

Dun naman tayo sa mismong Pares Overload. Habang nakapila ka, makikita mo na yung mga lechon kawali saka chicharong bulaklak na tinatadtad sa harapan mo. To be honest, takam na takam ako habang pinapanood ko yung nagtatadtad! Sa tingin ko, ito yung talagang nagdala sa pares nila compared sa iba. Mararamdaman mo pa rin yung lutong ng lechon kawali at chicharon bulaklak kahit nababad na sa sabaw ng pares. Maganda rin yung blend ng lasa, lalo na pag dinagdagan mo ng spring onions, bawang, saka chili oil. Champion! Medyo malabnaw lang yung sabaw, and hindi siya yung original pares na matamis ahh, ito yung klase ng pares na mostly matitikman niyo sa mga tabing kalsada. Pwede ka rin mag request na magdagdag ng taba pero since hindi ako kumakain ng taba, hindi na ako humingi. Yung kanin lang nila is hindi yung usual na pair ng pares na medyo brown yung kulay. Normal na kanin lang siya. Hindi ko alam pero iba kasi yung lasa ng talagang kanin na pair sa pares kung sa normal lang. Hindi sila bagay. But why am I complaining? Unli rice naman kaya makuntento ka na. 😂

Overall, nag-enjoy ako sa Pares Overload nila lalo na sa lechon kawali at chicharon bulaklak. Putok batok talaga literal! Organized din ang pila and very accommodating ng mga staff nila. Sana lang makakuha sila ng matinong pwesto in the future, and I hope hindi agad mamatay ang hype ng paresan nila kasi nakakatulong din sa mga staff nila yung income na pumapasok. And FYI, 24/7 sila kaya anytime, pwede ka pumunta dito para kumain at masubukan ang pares overload nila!

Coffee Shop Recommendation: Tinatangi Cafe

📍Nia Road Brgy. Salawag Dasmariñas City Cavite

Me and my girlfriend along with her colleagues went to one of the famous coffee shops in the south; Tinatangi Cafe.

Isa sa reason bakit siya naging sikat is yung ambiance ng lugar. Actually pagpasok namin, medyo disappointed na yung isang kasama namin, kasi kalahating part niya na parang pinaglumaan na lang yung pwesto. Not knowing na nasa kabilang side yung mismong cafe at yung mga tables. For the ambiance, what I can say is maganda siya as a coffee shop/cafe. The place is calming, even the background music is calming na dumadagdag sa sarap ng kape while you sip! Instagrammable din ang place, as in nagtagal din kami sa cafe for about an hour para mag-take lang ng photos. 🙂

For the coffee, I tried their “Tinatangi Latte” which is I believe version nila ng Spanish Latte. And as I said, it’s just a usual Spanish Latte. Nothing special. It’s just that parang nakulangan lang ako sa lamig, either baka lang sobrang init ng espresso shot na nilagay or nagkulang lang sila sa paglagay ng ice. I also tried the Blueberry and Cream Frappe na inorder ng aking girlfriend. Hindi ako mahilig sa Blueberry kaya I just asked my girlfriend about her verdict. The same reaction, nakulangan din siya sa lamig. Considering na frappe siya, di ko lang alam kung kulang talaga yung nilalagay nilang yelo or mainit lang yung panahon nung oras na yun (but it’s not really that hot unlike what we experienced last summer. And kakatapos lang din ng mga pag-ulan nun).

For the foods, we tried their Bolognese and Chicken Alfredo pasta. Actually kung mahina ka naman kumain ng pasta, it can be serve for two people already. Masarap siya. I liked the chicken chunks sa chicken alfredo the most. Pure white meat (as it should be LOL). For the Bolognese, parang siyang Italian spaghetti na medyo maasim asim, pero I liked it na sakto lang ang lasa niya. Hindi masyadong maasim, hindi masyadong maalat. We also tried their Tinatangi Fries and Nachos. For the fries, masarap din siya. Naalatan lang ako ng konti siguro dahil sa bacon flakes na dinagdag. Masarap din yung dressing. For the Nachos, sakto lang. I expected lang na ground meat yung magiging toppings niya. But it turned out na chicken chunks lang like yung nasa Chicken Alfredo nila. Though masarap pa naman din siya as a snack.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit at Tinatangi Cafe. We arrived at 4pm and stayed until 7pm so naabutan pa namin yung itsura niya at night. Di lang namin nasubukan mag-stay sa parang tree top nila. But definitely I want to go back and try some other stuffs on their menu. 🙂

My girlfriend urged me to watch A Man Called Otto. Wala akong alam sa movie na to aside that Tom Hanks is the main character, and nasa Netflix na siya.

Trigger warning: This movie contains attempts of su***de.

Sobrang impactful ng movie na to sakin. It made me laugh, and at the same time it made me cry. It depicts how hard it is for a person to lose someone you love deerly. Knowing na hindi mo na siya makakasama sa buhay mo, it loses your courage to live and to move on. But in the end, it also gives us a moral lesson that the world not only revolves around you. Even if you feel na wala ka nang kwenta sa mundo, just know na marami ang nagmamahal sayo. Hindi lang ang family mo. Your friends, your colleagues, even your neighbors.

Nakikita ko rin na this movie is getting a buzz on social media, which deserves it. Kung hindi mo pa siya napapanood, if you have the chance, go watch it with your families or your love ones. Mag-ready ng tissue in case maluha. 🙂

Saw franchise is one of the movies that triggerred my addiction to gore movies. I’m glad that they went back to John Kramer/Amanda Young’s timeline with this new one. 🙂

Food rebyuw: Wok Alley, SM Mall of Asia

Sa mga fried rice lovers dyan, this food stall is for you!

Actually, napadaan lang ako dito nung napag-decide ko na kumain dito. Dati, dinadaan-daanan ko lang to not knowing it's a friend rice stall. Then, nakita ko yung mga food vloggers sa Tiktok trying this and loving it. Kaya na-excite akong i-try ito on my own.

Inorder ko is yung Grilled Chicken SG Fried Rice worth 255 petot. First bite, grabe akala ko bigla akong nag-teleport pa-Singapore! Naalala ko yung mga fried rice na niluluto sa mga fast foods ng SG, grabe the best fried rice na natikman ko in my life. Ganito yung lasa ng fried rice ng Wok Alley! Kung tutuusin, wala naman siyang something special; egg, rice, spring onions, yung chicken, and pampalasa. Pero yung lasa niya ang nagpanalo. May kakaiba sa lasa niya na masasabi mong masarap at pang SG! If hindi ka pa nakakarating ng Singapore, this is the closest fried rice na I can say na identical sa mga fried rice na ginagawa from SG.

I also ordered their house blend lemon iced tea. Nothing special naman. It's like Nestea honey blend flavor. Pantawid-uhaw lang din. 🙂

I want to go back and try their other stuff on their menus. Medyo pricey nga lang siya considering it's only a fried rice. But when you have a chance, try it! You will taste the flavors of Singapore.

Starbucks new drink: BLACKPINK Strawberry Choco Cream Frappuccino

Alam mo yung usual strawberry shake na nabibili sa kanto? Tapos haluan mo lang ng crushed Berry Knots? Yun na yun. 😂

What I like most about this (aside na BLACKPINK-inspired siya hehe) is the reusable cup and straw. Medyo matibay enough yung texture niya that you can say na reusable nga siya. I’ll use this as my cup pag nasa office ako. Either for water or pag bibili ulit ako ng starbucks drink, dito ko na siya ipapalagay. Madaling hugasan. Let’s see if kelan tatagal. 🙂

You can now buy this at any Starbucks branches for 475 (Grande size). And also, fixed na yung reusable cup niya as Grande size only.

I just realized that this statement has a different meaning. At first, scientifically they thought na yung Atomic Bomb na kanilang gagawin can vaporize every existing atom which will destroy the whole world. But with the politics being involved, the chain reaction became a different meaning. As we know, there are powerful missiles and nuclear bombs na meron ang mga most powerful countries in the world. It is unimaginable kung gaano kalakas ang mga ito. And with all the crisis and conflicts na nangyayari ngayon (Ukraine x Russia, China x Taiwan, etc.), it is possible that the world will be on the brink of a nuclear war. This is what the chain reaction Oppenheimer is telling about on the movie. The chain reaction that can wipe out the whole world. This is what Oppenheimer created.

🤯
