We were planning on releasing all of our previous IGTV quarantine conversations on Apple & Spotify Podcasts last week as well as a brand new interview, but made the decision to postpone in light of the world events and fight for racial justice. We still want to share the conversations we had with ArtbyLopz, Will Wells, ursula rucker, and Zach Thompson. These artists deserve to be heard and supported in their efforts to use their art for good.

"LISTEN TO THE BIRDS" with mama Ursula Rucker. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, plant moms & motherly figures - thinking of those whose day can be a hard one emotionally. WE LOVE YOU. So, this interview feels fitting for the occasion. Ursula's compassion and affinity for performance and community is infectious and definitely had us misty eyed on the other side of the machine. Enjoy these heartfelt words of wisdom from this beautiful soul. ❤

Ursula Rucker - poet, spoken word artist, activist, mother and living legend - was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was a graduate of Temple University’s journalism program. She is of African-American and Italian descent. Rucker had been writing poetry since adolescence but kept her writings to herself until she read poetry in 1994, at Philadelphia's Zanzibar Blue, which is credited as her debut. That same year, Rucker was invited to collaborate with numerous recording artists, and producers including Wax Tailor, King Britt , 4hero, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Josh Wink, Alix Perez and most notably The Roots.

Happy Sunday! Taking a minute with THE Will Wells - the human behind SO MANY of our favorite songs in so many different ways. To name a few... Wells has been a music producer from the Broadway musical, Hamilton, recently co-produced the multi-award best song nominee, "Stand Up" for the Harriet Tubman bio, Harriet Movie, toured with Imagine Dragons, worked with artists like Anthony Ramos, Logic, and RZA, written the first ever theme song for the Heisman Trophy, and more. With an outstanding, booming, non-stop career for this young Berklee College of Music grad, it was really interesting to check in on how this quarantine has effected Wells and his personal, professional and creative life. We were so grateful for this interview, his grounded and inspiring presence is much needed right now.

Happy Sunday fam. Just a quick check in with one of our favorite dudes, ArtbyLopz, who is currently serving in NYC on the Covid-19 frontlines, but is still using his downtime to create and think of ways to get art opportunities out there for his fellow soldiers. Also, Nicole shows us all how to get the lighting just right for zoom calls. Hope everyone is safe and well!

Meet our first featured artist - NJ's very own original folk band, Originaire. PLEASE check out their music and videos. If you can- buy a song, give them a follow and share a song with your friends. These are all ways we can support our artist community. We're asking each of our featured artists to share with us all three of their favorite artists that have been keeping them inspired (secret admirer style xo) and today Originare's members- Ken, CiBon and Valerie want to thank and invite

MLK DAY BONUS EPISODE:
“Art is the Only Hope” ft. Nazanin Moghbeli

Iranian-American artist and doctor, Nazanin Moghbeli is the perfect interview to share on this day of service. Whether its being mother of three, caring for her patients in life or death situations, or making honest, thoughtful artwork that “straddles borders” - this woman SERVES. Honestly, we were so honored to have this guest. Nazanin’s answers were so effortlessly articulated with great insight and clarity. We touch on the recent events between Iran and America, technique, what it’s like trying to create when you have so much going on, and the importance of integrating art and culture into everything.

Support Nazanin’s efforts by checking out her exhibition called “Rupture” at Quorum at the University City Science Center in Philadelphia until January 24, 2020.
