Reason #5 to Support Our Project "Flying the Fortress": There are SO MANY small details that get lost to history without these veterans. One example of this is the jobs of each position on a heavy bomber like the B-17. Each one is different and has it's own unique stories. So far, we have had the privilege of interviewing a B-17 pilot, bombardier, co-pilot, and radio operator. But we want to get to all of them - waist gunners, ball turret gunners, tail gunners and all! Have you ever flown a flight simulator mission using an actual combat report from 1944? Well, tonight, that is exactly what we are doing to recreate some of the scenes for an up coming video. I went all the way to the National Archives in Maryland to get this gem! But this is how we make sure to get everything as accurate as possible. We even use TJ3 History viewers to fly as all the extras if you can believe it! We were able to go fly out and interview him just a few weeks ago, and we can't wait to tell you guys some of his stories. As I attempt to interview all of the surviving heroes that I can, the most difficult part often times, is finding them!
