1:48PM UPDATE: All lanes of the Pacific Hwy are now open at Koorainghat. Traffic conditions have returned to normal.

⚠️ PACIFIC HIGHWAY CLOSED NORTHBOUND
- (SOUTH OF TAREE)

The Pacific Highway is closed northbound at Koorainghat, south of Taree, due to a truck crash and fire near Bayel Drive.

Delay your trip if you can as there is no suitable diversion and traffic is being held at the moment.

More traffic crews are on the way to put in a contra flow so traffic can pass in both directions.

If you're already in the area, follow the directions of emergency services at the scene.

Traffic's heavier than usual, so also allow plenty of extra travel time.

UPDATE: Waterfall Way has now reopened in both directions.

Emergency services were called to Dorrigo Mountain at 12:40pm after reports a car and a motorcycle had collided.

Both the rider and a passenger of the motorcycle died at the scene, the driver of a car was uninjured and was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital for mandatory testing.

Waterfall Way is closed in both directions at Dorrigo Mountain near Ferny Face Trail, motorists are advised to delay their trip or use an alternate route.

Coffs Harbour residents advised: F-35A engine runs conducted as from 2pm today, Friday 12 April. ⚡️

Coffs Harbour residents are advised the RAAF F-35A Lightning II which has been parked at the airport for a few weeks undergoing repairs will conduct engine runs at approximately 2pm today.

People are advised they will experience higher than normal noise from Coffs Airport during these times.

Further engine runs maybe required before the aircraft departs for its home base at RAAF Williamtown near Newcastle.

GRAFTON POLICE PURSUIT🚔

26-year-old Grafton male arrested and charged with Police pursuit and knife offences.

About 12.10am on Thursday 11th of April 2024 Grafton General Duties Police attempted to stop a vehicle in South Grafton. At that time the accused allegedly failed to stop the vehicle and a Police pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued into Clarenza and Grafton. The pursuit lasted for approximately 10 minutes before the vehicle stopped and the accused was taken into Police Custody. A subsequence search of the vehicle located a number of knives.

The accused was charged with 13 alleged offences.

A developing low pressure system in the Tasman Sea is producing a vigorous southerly flow on its western flank. The low will move southeast, away from the NSW coast, later on Wednesday and Thursday resulting in easing winds.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are possible about the coastal fringe between Wooli and Wattamolla during Wednesday. The wind risk is expected to contract from the south to the Hunter and Mid North Coast districts around mid-morning on Wednesday.

Winds are forecast to ease below warning thresholds by late Wednesday afternoon.

Separate warnings for DAMAGING SURF and HAZARDOUS SURF are also current. See http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/

A man will face court following a serious crash involving a semitrailer at Brunswick Heads last night.

About 9.20pm yesterday (Tuesday 29 August 2023), emergency services responded to reports that a semitrailer had rolled along the M1 motorway at Brunswick Heads.

Police from Tweed/Byron Police District attended and were told that the truck was allegedly seen swerving between lanes before the trailer jack-knifed, rolling onto its side whilst being towed a short distance further.

The 36-year-old male driver underwent a preliminary roadside breath test which allegedly returned a positive reading.

He was arrested and taken to Byron Bay Police Station where a breath analysis allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.241.

The Sydney man was issued a Court Attendance Notice for drive with high range PCA.

He will appear before Mullumbimby Local Court on Wednesday 11 October 2023.

Police have also suspended the man’s drivers licence.
