Hearty Congratulations to Prof. Pat Utomi, and Sir Francis Okey Anyakwo, two fellow CKC Onitsha alumni, who were today installed as Papal Knights at the CKC Campus during the Feast of Christ the King.

Both gentlemen continue to serve as leadership role models for our impressionable youths.

Earlier today, I joined the Catholic Women Organisation, CWO, Awka Diocese, in celebrating their 15th Triennial Convention and 45th Anniversary, in Awka. I enjoined on the women to remain steadfast in their struggle for the progress of the nation, and to join me in the journey of taking back our country for the ultimate good of the people.

The fate of Africa depends on Nigeria, and the fate of Nigeria depends on good leaders. Good leaders can only come out of a system of strong and capable followers, holding to account those they elect to govern them. It depends on YOU!

Are you tired of being tired of this country? Then, it’s time to act. Let’s make the Office of the enlightened citizen the highest office in the land.

My remarks when I visited Port Harcourt have been wrongly interpreted by some people. The former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili and I, are among other prominent Nigerians that schooled in Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha, and we remain alumni of the school.

I did not say that former Governor Odili was my classmate, rather I said that he was a great footballer in my school, and we all cherished and had good memories of his football exploits when we got into the school.

I was in CKC from 1973 to 1978 and Dr. Peter Odili had graduated before I got into the school. He was such a fabulous footballer whose image still loomed large even in our time, especially considering the fact that my Primary School was very close to CKC.

The Primary School that I attended, Santa Maria School/Holy Trinity School, were both owned by the same Catholic Church that owned Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha. In fact, both Primary Schools were feeder schools to CKC, and a large number of pupils who passed through the schools ended up in CKC for secondary education.

As leaders, Datti and I cherish feedbacks. We are encouraged especially, by the passion and commitment which our young people are bringing to our ranks, and by their determination to take back their country and build for themselves the kind of nation they desire.

We therefore invite all the people of goodwill to join us in this noble task.

Yesterday, I was delighted to join thousands of worshippers at the 14th National Conference and Golden Jubilee Celebration of Catholic Charismatic Renewal at Ubulu Uku, Delta State. I am grateful for their sincere prayers for our victory at the polls.

Yes, it is our victory because, we, as Nigerians are breaking our nation free from the shackles of bad governance and leadership failure that have held her down for long. I thank the organisers of the program, and pray that God will hear our prayers for our nation and for ourselves.

My sincere apologies to Mrs Beatrice Itubo, the Labour Party candidate in Rivers State for an inadvertent oversight. When I visited Port Harcourt a few days back, I was not informed or aware of her sickness.

On arrival in PH, I was welcomed by the Labour Party Presidential State Coordinator in Rivers State and other Party stakeholders. We had a useful meeting and I explained to them the purpose of my visit, which was to respectfully honour an invitation by the Rivers State Government and that I will return for our party's rally and other LP engagements soon. No one mentioned that our candidate was sick, otherwise I would have visited her before or after the event. I had committed to passing through the campaign office no matter how late, and that I did at about 6.30pm.

My dear sister, I sincerely wish you a very quick recovery and reassure you of our good working relationship. May God Almighty bless you always.

Always a pleasure to meet and share quiet moments with my friend and brother, Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministry PH. It was a rare privilege listening to you minister on Godliness, diligence and productiveness; three core values that I advocate for.

Thanks for the graciousness, counsel and above all, constant prayers. God bless you.

We will enforce the legal framework protecting foreign investors and their indigenous partners. This is the only way to tamper monopoly and capital flight.

To restore investor confidence, we will explore ways of cushioning the forex demands by mainstreaming those components of Diaspora remittances that remain opaque and informal. With proper policy and planning, we can expect to boost and leapfrog the current $20 billion in remittances to $40b to $60b annually. That will translate to about 14% of our total GDP.

Second, pursuant to Goal 9 of the SDGs our administration will from its inception, continue to encourage investment in infrastructure - energy, transport, irrigation, and telecoms—to grow these and other sectors.

We are eager to quickly close the infrastructure gap between now and 2030. We will expand the frontiers of financial inclusion to ensure that SMEs have greater access to credit to grow.

We will work with financial institutions to improve their ability to identify credit worthy borrowers; and support inventory financing, which will help to unlock finance for SMEs dealing with high account receivables.

15/11/2022

First, our focus will be on agriculture and production-centered growth for food security and export, with more emphasis on exporting finished products instead of commodities and raw materials. This relates mainly food and textiles.

Nigeria has over 84 million hectares of arable land. Nigeria has over 84 million hectares of arable land. And barely 40% of our arable land is cultivated today. Nigeria’s arable land is her new oil and gold.

We will incentivize the resuscitation of the moribund cotton and textile industries; and full exploration of the cattle economy value chain, notably the $75b global hides and skin economy.

Nigeria’s share of the global industry is envisaged to generate over $1bn by 2025.

TETFund resources must be re-directed to funding of the Universities and other higher institutions robustly with a view to ending the perennial strikes by University Staff and workers.
🇳🇬

15/11/2022

We must fund education more robustly and holistically by tweaking the operational modalities of UBEC and TETFund. In funding education, we will pursue the global best practices and standards within available resource.

A 14% budgetary funding for education is within the realm of possibility in the medium and long term.

15/11/2022

We will remove import and forex restrictions and insist on a single forex market. The current system penalizes exporters who bring in forex by forcing them to sell at a rate that they are unable to source for forex when they need to purchase forex.

This multiple exchange rate regime encourages capital flight and deters investment, which has further worsened Nigeria’s forex situation.

15/11/2022

Despite the exigency and convenience the two-tier foreign exchange regime offers, it has become an albatross. Hence that arrangement will be critically reviewed, adjusted or even eliminated.

There is a nexus between our debt –to-GDP ratio and our tax-to-GDP ratio, which this year has decreased by 1.3 percentage points, from 7.3% to 6.0%. Comparatively, our tax to GDP ratio is one of the lowest in the world, with some peer countries doing 15% to 25% percent.

Our bane in this connection, is our over reliance on oil, excessive borrowings and fiscal indiscipline. A simplified but enhanced tax collection regime should address the prevailing challenges.

Twenty million out of school children is a dire national crisis.

As part of our Marshall Plan for Education, we will foster nationwide Federal intervention in education at all levels and partnership with State Governments and international organizations in order to improve access to affordable and quality education at all levels; We will introduce a mandatory “No Child left Behind” educational policy, mindful that Nigeria’s inadequate investment in the social sectors such as health, education and housing, has resulted in large number out-of-school children, huge unmet housing needs as well high youth unemployment.

I am glad to be back to the Lagos Business School. I am deeply grateful for the kind invitation extended to me to speak at the 2022 Lagos Business School (LBS) Alumni Conference. I have been asked to speak on the theme: “Creating an Enabling Environment for Business Nigeria".

This invitation is propitious. It offers me a vantage pulpit to speak to Nigerians and Nigeria observers on my mission to be the next president of our dear country.

14/11/2022

Today, as we mark the World Diabetes Day 2022, we are reminded of the need to pursue concerted efforts towards combating diabetes as a critical global health issue. Health experts believe that about 11.2 million people are living with diabetes in Nigeria.

We must, therefore, note the factors that encourage the incidence of diabetes and put preventive measures in place, while ensuring unfettered access to diabetes care for those living with diabetes. At the foundation of it all, is an aggressive investment in our health sector, which remains a critical part of our national development. I promise to revive our health sector, and ensure that at the grassroots level, all Nigerians have access to basic healthcare delivery for a more healthy and productive living.

A few days back, I visited the Geometric Electricity facilities in Abia State. I'm still astounded that this facility, which can help ameliorate Nigeria's electricity needs is yet to come on stream.

Domestic investors like Prof. Bart Nnaji, who are behind huge power and developmental infrastructure such as this, ought to be incentivised and protected by the FGN.

14/11/2022

I called on the Labour Party Faithfuls, especially candidates at all levels, including my supporters, to desist from name calling or derogating anyone, groups of persons or religions.

Nigeria has very huge problems and is currently at risk of implosion from economic hardship and insecurity. The focus, therefore, should be on how to deal with deleterious consequences of a tanking economy, pervasive insecurity, and the many challenges that the nation is contending with, rather than degenerating into name calling. Specifically, during our recent campaign in Benue, a candidate referred to the Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, as a "deceit." That is totally unacceptable to us.

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, remain a very patriotic Nigerian, who has always spoken for the best interest of his people and Nigeria in general. We all have our shortcomings, I have mine, and so do others. But, we should not refer to people in such derogatory manner

We must continue to focus on running an issue-based campaign, and unite with everyone to build a new and better Nigeria.

I wish all our candidates, including myself, well in the forthcoming elections.

Yesterday, I visited the scene of the fire explosion at Ogbo Ogwu Market, Onitsha. I observed first hand, the level of destruction of lives and properties resulting from the inferno. I commiserated with the victims and assured them of my support in these trying times.

I also urge the government and other well meaning Nigerians to help those affected by this fire disaster in rebuilding their means of livelihood.
