সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় শুধু একটা নাম নয়, এক মাইলফলক। সাহিত্য জগতের অন্যতম পুরোধা ‘নীললোহিত’ ছিলেন একাধারে কবি, ছোটগল্পকার, ঔপন্যাসিক, কলামনিস্ট। আধুনিক সাহিত্যের আঙিনায় জীবনানন্দ-পরবর্তী পর্যায়ে সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় হয়ে উঠেছিলেন রোমান্টিকতার অন্যতম মুখপাত্র। তাঁর উপন্যাস থেকে তৈরী হয়েছে বহু সিনেমা যার একটা সময় জনপ্রিয়তার নিরিখে সমাদৃত হয়েছিল আট থেকে আশি, সব বয়সের মানুষের কাছে। সত্যজিৎ রায়ের পরিচালনায় চলচ্চিত্রায়িত হয়েছে ‘অরণ্যের দিনরাত্রি’ এবং ‘প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী’। বাংলায় অ্যাডভেঞ্চাচারের স্রষ্টা তিনি, তাঁর রহস্যসন্ধানী ‘কাকাবাবু’ চরিত্রটির অভিযান কাহিনী নিয়ে তৈরী হয়েছে বেশ কিছু উল্লেখযোগ্য সিনেমা যেমন ‘সবুজ দ্বীপের রাজা’, ‘কাকাবাবু হেরে গেলেন?’, ‘মিশর রহস্য’, ‘ইয়েতি অভিযান’ (পাহাড়চূড়ায় আতঙ্ক)। আরো দুটি সিনেমার কথা না বললেই নয়। একটি সুব্রত সেন পরিচালিত ২০০৪ সালে মুক্তি পাওয়া ‘হঠাৎ নীরার জন্য’। অপরটি গৌতম ঘোষের পরিচালনায় লালন ফকিরের জীবনকেন্দ্রিক বিখ্যাত ও বহুল চর্চিত উপন্যাস ‘মনের মানুষ’ যা ৪১তম ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফিল্ম ফেস্টিভ্যাল অফ ইন্ডিয়ার আন্তর্জাতিক প্রতিযোগিতা বিভাগে শ্রেষ্ঠ চলচ্চিত্রের পুরস্কার পায়।

The Greatest Conspiracy

When discussing the greatest conspiracy that marked Uttam Kumar's career with failure, "Chhoti Si Mulaqat" tops the list. While many criticize his poor dancing, which made him seem unfit for the role, the hidden conspiracy remains rarely discussed. The conflict began with the casting of the lead actress. Uttam Kumar suggested Suchitra Sen, given that "Chhoti Si Mulaqat" was a Hindi remake of the Bengali hit "Agni Pariksha," but investors wanted a nationally recognized actress. Even Supriya Devi, an expert dancer, was rejected. Finally, Raj Kapoor suggested Vyjayanthimala, who later left mid-shoot and moved abroad without any information, causing major financial setbacks. Uttam Kumar faced significant financial loss, scarcity of raw film, and censor board complications over the theme of child marriage. Suspicion arises around these struggles, especially after Uttam Kumar turned down Raj Kapoor's offer for a role in "Sangam." Was this conspiracy orchestrated from behind the scenes? Why was he made to dance in a style more suited for Shammi Kapoor? These questions remain unanswered, leaving "Chhoti Si Mulaqat" as a lingering testament to an organized conspiracy.

চক্রান্ত ষড়যন্ত্রের আর এক নাম 'ছোটী সি মুলাকাত'-
মহানায়কের জীবনের ঐতিহাসিক ফ্লপ ছবি বলতে এক বাক্যে ছোটী সি মুলাকাত'-এর কথা বলা হয় এবং বলা হয় যে তিনি নাচতে পারেননি, তাঁকে মোটেই মানায়নি ইত্যাদি। কখনও ভাবা হয়না যে কতোখানি ঘৃণ্য ষড়যন্ত্রের শিকার হয়েছিলেন মহানায়ক। আজ সেই কথাই আলোচনা করা যাক। ছবির নায়িকা নির্বাচনের সময় থেকেই গোলমাল শুরু হয়ে যায়। নায়িকা হিসাবে প্রথমেই উত্তম কুমারের ভাবনায় আসেন সুচিত্রা সেন। আমরা জানি যে, উত্তম-সুচিত্রা জুটির সুপারহিট হিট ছবি 'অগ্নিপরীক্ষা'র হিন্দি 'ছোটি সী মুলাকাত' । কিন্তু প্রথমেই লগ্নীকারীদের তরফ থেকে তা নাকচ হয়ে যায় এই যুক্তিতে যে, সর্বভারতীয় স্তরে স্বীকৃত কোনও নায়িকা না নিলে সর্বভারতীয় বাজারও পাওয়া যাবে না। সুচিত্রা সেন স্বয়ং উত্তম কুমারের কাছে সুপারিশ করেছিলেন সুপ্রিয়া চৌধুরীর নাম। ভালো মানের অভিনেত্রী হওয়ার পাশাপাশি তিনি নাচতেও পারতেন। উত্তম কুমারের কাছ থেকে সুচিত্রা সেনের এই পরামর্শের কথা শুনে সমর্থন করেছিলেন হেমন্ত মুখোপাধ্যায়। ওদিকে সুপ্রিয়া চোধুরীও আবার তাঁর গুরু মরুথাপ্পা পিল্লাই-এর কাছে নতুন করে নাড়া বাঁধেন। কিন্তু তা আর হয়ে ওঠেনি। উত্তম কুমার পরামর্শ চেয়েছিলেন রাজ কাপুরের কাছে। তাঁর পরামর্শেই ছবির পরিচালক নির্বাচিত হন আলো সরকার, সঙ্গীত পরিচালক শঙ্কর জয়কিশন এবং নায়িকা নির্বাচিত হন বৈজয়ন্তীমালা। সর্বনাশের সূত্রপাতও এখান থেকেই। ছবির কাজ শুরু হয় ১৯৬৪ সালে। কাজ শেষ করতে নাগাড়ে বাধাপ্রাপ্ত হতে থাকেন উত্তম কুমার। যেন তেন প্রকারেণ ছবি শেষ করতে একের পর এক হুন্ডি কাটতে থাকেন তিনি। হতাশ মহানায়ক সুপ্রিয়া চৌধুরীকে বলেছিলেন,“এক এক সময়ে মনে হচ্ছে আমার বোধ হয় এই ছবিতে কিছুই করার নেই। যাবতীয় প্রেফারেন্স হিরোইনকেই দেওয়া হচ্ছে। পরিচালক নির্বাচন ভুল হয়েছে। ভুল হয়েছে চিত্রনাট্যেও.....”। ছবির কাজ যখন অনেকটাই বাকি, কাউকে কিছু না জানিয়েই হঠাৎ বৈজয়ন্তীমালা বিদেশ চলে গেলেন। বহু টাকা ব্যয়ে নির্মিত সেট ভেঙে দিতে হল। এর সঙ্গে ঘটলো আর এক ঘটনা। ঐ যুগে শুটিং-এর জন্য 'র' ফিল্ম সরকারের মাধ্যমে কোটায় কিনতে হোত। সেই 'র' ফিল্ম কেনার পর একদিন দেখা গেল মহানায়কের কাছের কেউ সেই স্টক অন্যত্র বিক্রি করে দিয়েছেন !!!! জানার পর একপ্রকার দিশাহারা হয়ে গেলেন উত্তম কুমার। এখন কোথায় পাবেন 'র' স্টক!? আর ব্ল্যাকে কেনার টাকা-ই বা কোথায় পাবেন ? ফোন করলেন সুচিত্রা সেনকে। তাঁকে সান্ত্বনা দিলেন, আশ্বস্ত করলেন সুচিত্রা সেন। বহু কষ্টে ছবির কাজ শেষ করতে পারলেন উত্তম কুমার। ছবি মুক্তি পাওয়ার আগে ঘটে গেল আর এক ঘটনা !!! জানা গেল, বাল্য বিবাহ দেখানো হয়েছে বলে সেন্সর ছবি আটকে দিয়েছে !!! এদেশে বাল্য বিবাহ নিষিদ্ধ !!! কিংবদন্তী গীতিকার গৌরীপ্রসন্ন মজুমদার বলেছিলেন,'অগ্নিপরীক্ষা' নিয়ে তৈরি হয়েছে 'ছোটি সি মুলাকাত' । বাল্য বিবাহকে কেন্দ্র করেই এগিয়েছে ছবির কাহিনী। তাকে বাদ দেওয়া যাবে কি করে ?' ছবি আটকে যাওয়ার খবর পেয়ে রাজ কাপুরকে ফোন করে কথা বলেছিলেন সুচিত্রা সেন। যাই হোক, তিন বছরের লড়াই শেষে মুক্তি পেয়ে মুখ থুবড়ে পড়েছিল 'ছোটী সি মুলাকাত' । এরপরেও কিছু কথা বলার থাকে। রাজ কাপুরের 'সঙ্গম' ছবিতে সেকেন্ড লিডে অভিনয়ের প্রস্তাব নাকচ করে সেই রাজ কাপুরের কাছেই গিয়েছিলেন উত্তম কুমার ! তাহলে কি রাজ কাপুর সেই হিসাব-ই মিটিয়েছিলেন ? ছবি আটকে যাওয়ার খবর শুনে সুচিত্রা সেন-ই বা কেন রাজ কাপুরকেই ফোন করেছিলেন ? তাহলে কি তিনিও একই আশঙ্কা করেছিলেন ? শঙ্কর জয়কিশন-এর সুরে ছবির টাইটেল সং শুনে কি বোঝার উপায় আছে যে, ছবির নায়ক উত্তম কুমার ? নাকি, শাম্মী কাপুর ? ঐ গানের দৃশ্য অযথা দীর্ঘায়িত করে উত্তম কুমারকে বৈজয়ন্তীমালার বিপরীতে নাচতে বাধ্য করা হয়নি কি ? এই রকম বহু প্রশ্নের উত্তর আজ আর পাওয়া যাবে না। এক মহান শিল্পীর আশা স্বপ্নের সমাধি 'ছোটী সী মুলাকাত' শেষ পর্যন্ত চক্রান্ত ষড়যন্ত্রের দলিল হয়েই থাকবে।
