Its Maun derby over the weekend as Sankoyo hosts Terrors
its a hectic weekend ahead.

Sankoyo Bush Bucks host Maun Terrors at a venue to be announced as Maun Sports complex is booked for a music festival.

The teams play each other following their opposite fortunes on the opening day of the First Division North. Sankoyo lost their away game 1-0 to Chadibe FC while Terrors won by the same margin at home against Motlakase.
Terrors will go in to the game against the Ngurungu young charges rejuvenated by its weekend showing in what is expected to be fireworks.

Maun has had tightly contested derbys over the years. The most memorable and no doubt top of the chats would be Maun Terrors vs Maun Tigers derby in the olden days at the now RAC offices in Old mall.
However, Ngurungu Vs Terrors is the most viable derby in the modern game as the two teams have so far showed initiative compared to their peers.

FINALLY THERE IS FOOTBALL IN OKAVANGO

- BFA finally spread wings to Okavango since independence

Football teams in the Okavango sub district will finally play organised football under Botswana Football Association since independence at 1966.

Since 1966 teams in the Okavango have been playing informal games outside BFA due to distance from Maun where there organised league. The Okavango had been cut off from BFA football action.

However, recently Nhabe Regional Football Association welcomed teams from Gumare ( 8 teams) and Shakawe ( 8 teams) under its affiliation.

This means Okavango teams are now part of BFA and football will finally arrive in Okavango.it is hoped this will ensure development of football talent in the area to benefit the national team.

Meanwhile Nhabe Region which has always comprised of Maun teams is now comprised of three streams: Maun, Gumare and Shakawe Streams.

Due to distance and lack of financial muscle, all the streams organise their own leagues.
Winners of the streams will at the end play each other to choose a winner to represent the region at first division north promotional playoffs.

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has taken a decision to restructure the Secretariat, mainly to align to best practices that can improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness.

The restructuring exercise is expected to result in a simplified yet professional functional structure. This is process that was started as far back as 2015, and revisited several times in 2017, 2018 and the earlier part of 2021, and in March to be precise.

“The process has involved determining areas to restructure, in terms of fit for purpose organisational processes, functions as well as cost structures. In the short term, corrective action is being taken to ensure continuity during this process while consultations and calculations and securing of separation packages is being looked in to. Thereafter, implementation of the restructuring will be effected and results evaluated over time,” said BFA Chief Executive Officer, Goabaone G. Taylor.

The BFA’s decision to embark on this exercise is well within the principles of Organisational Restructuring which focus on transformation of either or both structure, processes, and people.

To make the Association sustainable, Taylor said a few structural deficiencies that needed attention were determined as follows;

- A need to re-organise the High-Level Functional Structure
- Manpower planning to align with Human Capital requirements
- Job Analysis and Evaluation

“The BFA vision is to be a self-sustaining professional organisation of excellence. There is need for financial independence and the ability to generate own revenue that can be put to good use as we continue to grow the Association,” the CEO added.

The development of Football remains at the core of the Association to create a well organised and properly functioning body that abides by the rules and regulations that guide operations for the success of the organisation.

The Football Industry has the potential to promote i
