R Scott Bolton stopped by for our Thursday chat, and here's the lastest watch or don't watch stuff for the week. We talked a little about this movie on the air last week, and I had to check it out. It's on Netflix and it's Adam Sandler's latest. He voices the character of Leo the Lizard. It's totally cute. Funny, sweet but not sappy. Adam changes his voice a bit for the role as well, so you do forget that it's Adam Sandler talking at times. There's even a couple of funny songs that are very "un-Disney" that make you laugh. Bill Burr voices Leo's buddy the turtle, and his part is funny too. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think pretty much anyone would. I give this a big "yes" to watch....

It's an hour and 20 minutes and my only complaint is that I wanted it to be much longer! Some great comedians and some great archival footage. I totally recommend it. You can find it on Netflix...

The week swung back around to Thursday once again and here we got with the latest picks.....in light of Taylor Tomlinson being named the new host of The Late Show, taking over from James Corden, I decided to get to know who she is a little better since I had no idea really who she was. She's 28, a comedian and actress, and brilliant. She has several comedy specials, and the one I caught is from 2022. It's only an hour long and while you can't really watch it with your kids in the room (older teens maybe??) it's really funny. She just talks about her life as comedians do, and tough stuff like her getting diagnosed with depression and the meds she has to take. But she doesn't make it weird, and she does it with humor of course, since it IS a comedy special. I totally recommend it. I plan to watch her others as well, and I look forward to seeing what she does on The Late Show, being the only female in late night. You can catch this special on Netflix....

SO....I'm late on the Taylor Swift bandwagon. Yes, I've always liked her. However, I'm not at the "OMG Taylor I love you so much I know all the words to every song" status. But in light of all the Taylor hype with Travis Kelce and her recent concert here in LA, her concert movie, and everyone literally unable to stop loving on her, I wanted to see and learn more. (I'm totally jealous I didn't get to see her in concert, but I digress).

So the doc I watched this week is not new, but it's new to me. It came out in 2020. And it came out around the time Taylor was reemerging back into the limelight after taking a year off from everything and was avoiding being seen and pretty much-avoiding everyone, especially the press and the paparazzi. It's short. It's only 1 hr 25 min, and I really recommend it.

I'm assuming Taylor was a part of this doc's release, based on how it was all put together. It was a really great insight into her rise to fame, all the crazy stuff she's gone through (including the du***ss Kanye incident), and even her writing and creative process. She shares what she's thinking and how she feels. It really makes you want more, and it makes you want to see her in concert live. Well, that's how I felt anyway. It left me feeling like she really is a good and nice person and that she tried really hard during her rise (and now) to be those things. To be a person with integrity. To be a person with grace and gratitude. To be the person your little girl (or son) CAN grow up admiring. Check it out on Netflix...

This went from some pretty good moments - to almost cringe-worthy. But I give him total credit for doing it, to begin with. This is not an easy song by any stretch! And in front of thousands of people! I was also impressed with how white his teeth are! I want the number of his dentist! LOL

This week I watched a series on Netflix - that turned out to only have one season as Netflix didn't renew the show from 2020. Maybe one of the reasons is because it was kind of depressing, and 2020 was depressing enough with COVID and the lockdown. Season one has ten episodes, and I'm on the fence as to whether I'm actually recommending this one. Since it's a show that was about competitive ice skating - I thought it would be a little lighter than it turned out to be. The main focal point of the show turned out to be the bipolar that two of the main characters are dealing with, along with a little self-harm used as a coping mechanism. I'd love to hear from someone else who watched it - and has experience with bipolar - to find out whether what they went through and showed on screen is an accurate portrayal of the disease......

I was excited to talk about this week's watch because I loved it! We all know David Beckham is a great futbol player, just like we know Michael Jordan is a great basketball player. But many of us, myself included, don't necessarily know the scope of soccer on a global scale. Sure, I remember the hype of Becks and Posh. But to see the story unfold with never-before-seen home videos of the rise of David Beckham as a GOAT was really great and wonderful to watch. I'd always liked David and Victoria and never believed the mean stuff the media said about her. I've always felt she was warm and funny in interviews, not like the cold "you know what" the media declared. It was nice to see her in the way I thought she was/is and to see their strong love for each other in the mix of seeing his rise to global superstardom in sports. You can catch David's 4 part docuseries on his life on Netflix. I highly recommend it.....

Thursdays with R Scott Bolton! (Not to be confused with Tuesdays with Morrie). This week I caught an Emma Thompson movie that was barely a blip on my radar, but came up again while down the rabbit hole for something else. And I'm glad it did. It also stars Mindy Kaling, and I love her and her humor, along with John Lithgow. It was wonderful to see Emma in this powerhouse of a woman type role - kind of like Meryl in Devil Wears Prada. It's not Oscar worthy, but an enjoyable movie with some funny bits, and I do recommend it. You can find it on Amazon Prime....

Thursdays with R Scott Bolton and this week I have a really good one! Perfect for this creepy time of year!! If you like the paranormal stuff and ghost hunting - this is right up your alley! It's so good, and you can find it on the Travel Channel. It's free online. There are two seasons. Each season has 6 episodes. You can watch the complete first season, but for season two they've only released the first episode. The second episode comes out tonight, and then every Thursday thereafter. It is crazy how each episode digs deeper and deeper into this major paranormal situation going on at this developing dude ranch in Montana at Gunslinger Gulch, in the very small town of Anaconda. The ties that this story has all over is mind-boggling! The layers! This is all supposedly real!! You be the judge, but I totally recommend it!! Check out the comments for yays and nays from the guys....

Should the Dodgers reconsider? Should the MLB reconsider?

This is not to take away from any REAL victims of sexual assault - no matter the gender...but it is because of situations like these that we are teaching our son to be very careful with whom he decides to associate, spend time with, and to think before being alone with a friend/female. Maybe this upsets many of you, but just as daughters need to be protected (I know, I am one) sons have to be protected as well.

I think it blows how people rag on Taylor Swift so much for having a dating life and "rumored" to be with so many people. She's not doing anything different than any other young woman/woman, except 9.999% of us aren't singer/songwriter superstars. We get a little fixated and obsessed. We wonder who she's writing these songs about, and dammit, I'm no different :( 😂So if you're curious about who she's writing her songs about, this may help. Incidentally - I don't see "us" being as critical of a male musician doing the same darn thing....For what it's worth - I like her and Travis Kelce! :)

Plus, all the songs inspired by her self-described "long list of ex-lovers."

So this is awesome.... piggybacking on Barbiemania, Stevie Nicks is getting her own Barbie! Cher has MANY (remember all those Bob Mackie dresses turned into Cher Barbies?), there's even a Maria/Sound of Music Barbie, but I'm thinking with the release of Stevie's - maybe Barbie needs to do a women in rock/punkrock/music series!

I like that they're finally thinking about what women need in their cars (again). Tom Spence brought this up today about how women need a place to put their purse in their cars, and the Dodge La Femme (see comments) - a car designed for women in the 50s. I can tell you from my DAILY experience that yes, we DO need a place for our purses! My son hates it on the floor of the passenger side front seat and he's my daily companion in the car.

When a woman gets in the driver’s seat of a car she often faces a challenge. Where to put her bag? There’s just not a good place. There’s the passenger seat, if its empty, or the foot well in front of it or even on the back seat, if you don’t mind reaching all the way back there.

Yo, yo Thursday! Checking out the latest "stuff" on tv, film etc. This week I watched - no binge watched - a six episode series on Netflix. My girlfriend Jinni in a text thread with a group of us insisted it was a must watch - and it WAS!!! It was SO good! It's sort of true crime/drama, only not true LOL. A seemingly perfect couple, not so much after all, take a trip to the wilderness - a trip that was supposedly a dream trip for the wifey. Only things aren't so great as to why they finally go on this trip, and get even worse once they get to the wilderness, and come across the hubby's work associate - in the middle of the wilderness. Let me know if you figure this one out before it is spelled out for you.....
