TRAVELLERS STRANDED AS HEAVY DOWNPOUR DESTROYS IKARE-ARIGIDI-AJOWA ROAD

Road users passing through Imo-Arigidi to Agbaluku-Arigidi were stranded as their vehicles got stucked in the notorious and abandoned portion of Ikare-Arigidi-Ajowa road due to serious flooding as a result of heavy downpour.

Most car owners abandoned their vehicles because they couldn't pass through the road due to serious flooding at the failed portion of the road.

Chief Ojo Malomo, a community leader disclosed that the 2 kilometres abandoned and bad portion of the road for over 16 years has been causing havoc like road accidents, damaging of vehicles and negative implications on the socio-economic growth of Arigidi with less government attention. Another concerned residents Chief Mrs Ajayi Ogidi said the bad portion deserved the attention of government because of the importance of Ikare to Ajowa to the northern parts of the country which the road is currently serving. According to Chief Ajayi the southern northern trade will be seriously affected if the bad portion is not fixed on time.
