Excited for our listeners to “meet” these two awesome ladies…Christine Peake, Hollywood Publicist & Stand-Up Comedian, and she was just hanging out with Usher in Vegas (who’s performing the Super Bowl halftime show). She has shared a stage with SNL legend Darrell Hammond and spun tunes with World Class DJ Paul Oakenfold — and that was just a Monday!

Our second guest, Patricia McHale, is Holistic Health Practitioner and Therapist for celebrities and stars, exclusively, one of which was Pink!

We three worked very closely together helping The late Tony Hsieh, former CEO of Zappos, with his book launch in 2010. It was a wild ride…

This is the first of several episodes with these two…we have so much to talk about, we had to schedule morere recordings!

Join Holly McNamara and Joey Dumont as we discuss "Navigating Politics and Journalism: Marketing Insights, Media Trust, and Social Media Influence"

When Joey Dumont and I sat down last year to revisit our memories of the late Tony Hsieh, little did we know it would lead to an exploration of the intertwining worlds of marketing and politics. Joey's leap from digital marketing to the podcasting sphere mirrors my own journey into the political fray, and together, we dissect the strategies and consequences of brand communication in an era dominated by social media. This episode isn't just about looking back at our experiences with Tony Hsieh and our experiences living in San Francisco; it's a deep dive into how those interactions have shaped our understanding of leadership and engagement in the public sphere.

The landscape of journalism stands at a crossroads, and in this episode, Joey and I don't shy away from discussing the gritty details of reporting on complex social issues. From the rise of 'slow journalism' to the birth of True Investigative Journalists, we tackle the economic challenges of revamping media models and the importance of maintaining journalistic integrity in a polarized environment. The conversation unravels the threads of societal controversies and the pressing need for media outlets that can garner trust across political lines, all while upholding our commitment to authenticity and responsible journalism.

Bringing an intimate lens to political discourse, we share personal anecdotes that highlight the trials of navigating political differences among friends and family in today's charged climate. The episode addresses the changing faces and tactics within the Republican Party, the charismatic allure of Donald Trump's marketing approach, and the reverberations of his legal entanglements on American politics. As we conclude, we reflect on the challenges of instigating police reform and the quest to cultivate a media platform that stands as a beacon of trust and evidence-led reporting. Join us on The Salt Grain Podcast for this unabashedly candid conversation that transcends the usual political rhetoric. It's a deep dive into the crux of current affairs, delivering more than just information, but a call to action for discernment and dialogue in these transformative times. You'll also hear how commitment to integrity and authenticity remains at the heart of both political leadership and responsible journalism.

Really excited for the next episode with Joey Dumont, host of True Thirty podcast out of San Francisco (truethirty.com). Joey and I met when I lived in San Francisco. He is a marketing guru, and now podcasting with hundreds of interviews under his belt — he is a truth warrior and his podcast covers some pretty controversial content from *all* sides. We talk local and national politics, sourcing information, social media’s part in the world today and the importance of core values.

Join Holly McNamara and Troy Matthews as we discuss "The Grit and Grind of Local Politics and the Personal Cost of Political Authenticity".

I'll never forget the day I stepped down from office, the weight of controversy on my shoulders and the cacophony of political discord ringing in my ears. Now, with Troy Matthews joining me on The Salt Grain, we swap the gritty tales of our political and personal upheavals. Through our conversation, you'll journey into the maze of local politics and the personal cost of staying true to one's values amidst a storm of misinformation, as Troy and I tear down the facade that often cloaks the realities of public service.

What happens when authenticity meets the unforgiving world of social media? Troy Matthews, who champions transparency under the moniker , sheds light on this precarious balance. We unravel the threads of political engagement, from the contentious renewal of a police chief's contract to the ethical dilemmas that can lead to resigning from a position you love. Our frank discussion touches on everything from the complexities of explaining intricate policy issues to an often skeptical public, to the raw emotional toll that the relentless persistence required in public service can exact on those who dare to step into the arena.

Wrapping up with a reflective look at the relentless impact of social media bans and the audacity required to run for office in today's climate, this episode offers a candid perspective on the political landscape. As we navigate the choppy waters of political campaigns influenced by our online footprints, you'll hear firsthand accounts of navigating these new challenges. From Troy's insights to my own experiences, we provide a rare glimpse into the lives of those committed to making a difference, regardless of the personal cost. Tune in for an episode that strips back the polish to reveal the raw, unvarnished realities of politics, truth-seeking, and the undeniable influence of social media. Tune in for a revealing glimpse into the lives of those who dare to challenge the status quo and the resilience required to continue the fight for a better world.

New Episode! Join Holly and Lloyd Mendes for Episode 6: "Charting Somerset's Future: Community, Growth, and Local Governance with Lloyd Mendes"

Join us as we welcome Lloyd Mendes, a man with a rich and varied background who has become a politically active force in Somerset, Massachusetts. Listen in as Lloyd recounts his journey to Somerset and how our paths crossed during my first run for office in 2016. Our shared commitment to our town's future, especially through zoning challenges and community engagement, is a testament to the power of local governance. Lloyd's narrative emphasizes the vitality of participating in town affairs and how he's steering Somerset towards a brighter path.

We tackle the compelling stories of individuals like Jacob Vaught, a veteran and newly-elected selectman, and he and Lloyd's transition from military service to serving the community in local politics. We also discuss the strategies that make grassroots campaigns successful and the significance of staying informed on local issues. I discuss my experience as a South Coast representative with regional organizations like SRPEDD and the importance of having a voice in the distribution of state and federal funding. Moreover, we address the community impact of economic changes, such as power plant closures, on Somerset's tax revenue and the delicate balance the planning board must maintain when approving new developments (including NIMBY voices).

The episode rounds out with a forward-looking discussion on the potential for industrial and commercial growth in Somerset, particularly in the burgeoning offshore wind industry. We consider how legal frameworks and community interests shape the town's industrial trajectory, and the promise it holds for revitalizing our local economy. Moreover, we delve into the broader implications of the MBTA communities law and the shifting landscape of housing policies in Massachusetts. This is a conversation brimming with insights on the importance of resource management, attracting young professionals, and fostering a vibrant community that you won't want to miss.
