One week to go! In the spirit of “The 12 Days of Christmas “ we begin the countdown!

Pro tip: carry a case of every kind of cord imaginable for off-site services. That “slideshow “ (usually just a flash drive with 300 .jpeg files) the family hands you 15 minutes before the service starts? It’s almost guaranteed to not work with the on-site equipment.

Consider stopping by the church or venue the day before to scope out their definition of “A/V System”, and don’t bet on anyone who works there knowing how to operate it!

Meet Faith! Faith is busy. She is the Program Chair of the Mortuary Science Program at Arapahoe Community College, co-owner of Good Judy Garage - the only fully queer-owned and operated auto shop in Denver, serves on many boards and committees, and is working on a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership.

She has been in the funeral industry since 2004 and is a Worsham College of Mortuary Science graduate. Faith has a B.S. in Health Studies and a Master of Business Administration.

Faith cares deeply about the deathcare industry and sees it as a collaboration of many disciplines and specialties working together. She believes education is key and loves teaching (and learning from) her students. She is speaking at several conferences this year about what her students look for in employment, and how to provide affirming care for LGBTQ+ decedents and their families.

She has a special affinity for Victorian death customs, has over 30 tattoos, and drinks coffee every waking hour.

Meet Gina! Gina Hooper has reached a decade in Funeral Service and is not slowing down. She is a licensed Embalmer, Funeral Director and Crematory Manager in the state of California, as well as Program Supervisor for a new Funeral Service Education Program in the Bay Area at Cañada College. Her goals are to bring affordable and tangible Funeral Service Education to the state of California, bridge the gap between hospice and funeral homes, and streamline emergency response management for mass casualty events
If you talk to her about embalming, buckle up! Gina forgets not everyone loves the feeling of angular forceps sliding down the jugular or discussing skull reconstruction.

One of her favorite aspects of funeral services, other than embalming, is training bright-eyed practitioners and contributing to their growth in the field.

Gina decompresses by cremating, driving, camping, snowboarding, and playing the trumpet.
