Assam pushes back seven illegal entrants, CM lauds security forces

Assam continues its drive against illegal infiltration. In a social media post, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that seven illegal entrants were pushed back through the India-Bangladesh border at around 12:15 am on Saturday.

The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the security forces involved in the operation.

Earlier, citing the government's efforts to prevent anyone from entering India illegally, the CM had said that Assam’s security personnel remain alert and vigilant along the border areas to prevent any unauthorised entry. In recent times, security forces have successfully prevented many such attempts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on 'X' that he, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa held an IBSA leaders’ meeting during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

PM Modi said the forum reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the voice and aspirations of the Global South. He described IBSA as an important platform connecting three continents, three major economies and three large democratic powers.
