Our second stop in the US was Norfolk
Already loving the US, why haven't I been here before (P)...
Everyone is super friendly, open and welcoming..
Norfolk opened our eyes to a new world after leaving the Bahamas, you can never say what you prefer as everything and everyone is always so different
Sometimes though, finding supermarkets a plenty, restaurants galore and everything else you desire is kinda nice after 1.5 years in the carribean
Everything has its thing

This shot was taken in Bonaire among one of the many stunning sunsets we experienced 😍

This is what meeting your friend looks like in the middle of the north atlantic ocean
One of you needs to speed up and one of you needs to slow down, it's a fine art 🤣
After several days at sea a bit of excitement seeing another human friend even for a few minutes is super great
Mike came alongside us before we took different routes on our journey to Moorhead, we stayed in the Gulf Stream and Mike took a direct route!!

This is the stunning bay in Dominican Republic called Samana
A bridge was made by the government head because he loved the bay so much he wanted to create a way for the people to enjoy the little island and see a beautiful bridge that joins the mainland

In this video we set sail on a 3 day passage after several months lockdown from Bonaire to the Dominican Republic
We say goodbye to our special friends as they gallantly get up at the crack of dawn to see us off
We get seasick, dodge lobster pots and look out for hu***ng whales 🤣🥰

Have you ever thought about anchoring in the middle of the ocean?
That is exactly what we did!!
This is an Atoll in the middle of the North Atlantic between islands in the Bahamas
There are 3 shipwrecks in this atoll where ships have sailed at night and either not seen the atoll or got caught in a storm and swept to shallow ground
This is Hogsty Reef, we anchored in the Northwest Cay area for a couple of hours, sadly the sea state was too rough to anchor for the night which would have been super cool to wake up to..
What an amazing view, what do you think?
This will be featured in an upcoming video

Just added a couple of 170 watt flexible Sunpower Solar panels to our Bimini with a 100/50 Victron Connect MPPT.

Very happy with them so far and they were pretty easy to fit.

That takes our total solar to 1300 watts so hopfully we can get our lithiums to 100% now without running the generator!

We made it to the BAHAMAS!!! YEEEeees!!!..
Wow we never thought we could savour a beer like we did when we reached land..
A beer is so much more delicious when you've travelled 3 days with little to no sleep to one of the most beautiful places on earth you have seen so far...
We arrived in the Southern Bahamas in Matthew Town, Inagua and met George who was on the VHF and in the marina office.
George was super helpful and gave us lots of information to send us on our way to our next destination

Neiiiigh...
This was a trip organised for us by Louis who is the bay master at Samana Bay in Dominican Republic
When we decided to stop in DR we did not expect there to be so much to see and do, our original plan was to just stop to rest the leave promptly, but we were pleasantly surprised to see some of the amazing things DR has to offer and stayed a few days longer
We started the day checking out a local handmade to***co company, then horse trecking, waterfalls, then a yummy lunch and visiting the local market.
Needless to say there was a race involved between us, and James was convinced he had the winning streak in his horse, but mine was quietly confident and pipped him to the post 😂
The local market people bring their locally produced goods such as fruit and veg, coconuts etc, once they make their daily takings they then purchase rice and take it back to their local town

Sailing downwind like..
This is our favourite kind of sailing
This was sailing from Samana Bay to the National Park Los Haitises in what we sometimes call 'champagne sailing', though no champagne around....just some coconut fresh from the local market 🥥rw7

'How have we done this for nearly 3 years???' We said to each other..
Sea sickness ever get you? Oh it's not fun!!!! 🤢
Our next stop Dominican Republic
We left Bonaire and said our goodbyes to some wonderful friends we had made ..
The journey was not rough but I was sea sick about 9 hours into the 2.5 day passage and felt dreadful the rest of the passage, to say I had never been so pleased to see land was an understatement.
I have never been physically sea-sick and I tried to fight it but sadly I couldn't resist what was happening.
It was strange because James also felt sick at points, neither of us particularly normally suffer from it and left us wondering how we have done this for 3 years and what made this happen?
Tomorrow is another day 😁

We ride around the south side of the island by scooter 😬 and try not to fall off!!!

Happy 🌏 day everyone
Mindful that today resembles a special day, signifying every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970
Travelling to so many places has opened up our eyes to this world and how are lives impact the environment and everyone else on this beautiful planet
We try every day to look after this world we live in so that the next generations can see some of the beautiful things we have had the privilege of seeing in the years to come ❤

Although we are soon to leave Bonaire, it has certainly left its mark on us, one of its most beautiful features is the stunning waters around Bonaire and Klein Bonaire, which are possibly the most beautiful we have ever seen
The dive sites are endless and if you aren't into deeper water then the shallows are full of parrot fish, turtles, rays and hundreds of other sea creatures
Bonaire is a place you want to come back to..
Bonaire you have our hearts..

New video up! https://youtu.be/R96oFzptSSI

We go on an exciting mini adventure for 5 days for New Years Eve with on our yacht sailing Aequus, alongside on Mikes beautiful Hanse 575 (Ellipsis).

Our last sail of 2020 pretty much summed up the year most people have had... LOUSY!!! In the space of 6 hours we had sunshine, rain, fog, no wind, too much wind and about 5 different squalls that passed through which made a challenging sail to say the least.

We had a reef in the main but one squall caught us off guard and a particularly nasty gust caused us to broach (round up).

After a particularly stormy and rocky night celebrating NYE on the deserted island of Klein Curacao we received a weather update and things were about to get worse..

28/03/2021

What happens next?
Ok... Ryan pinched Sophie's 'derriere' catching her off guard and she turned round as quick as you can in deep water, and nearly knocked Ryan out with her tank.. 🤣🤣
It is amazing how 'silent' and slow you become underwater, you cannot speak to each other or share much emotion. So when you see something special or share a moment communication is 'unusual' or non-existent, laughing is definitely not an option and I've made that mistake a few times!
Just before this was taken a huge tarpon the same size as me swam past and I didn't see it, however, everyone else did and wasn't till we surfaced they couldn't believe I missed it as it was literally beside me.. this is classic of not being able to tell someone else what is happening and you can have a totally different experience underwater from the person just a few metres away from you..

In this video we sail to the beautiful uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao.

Enjoy!

Lunch and lapping waves on the south side of the island of Klein Bonaire
🏝️🥑
This peaceful view is to be found on the 'littler' island that belongs to the island of Bonaire.
With no inhabitants except wildlife it makes a beautiful place to stop, put a line out to a bouy and enjoy the stunning view
No lunch would be complete without a yummy salad

Snorkeling around these fine sea creatures never gets boring..
The curiosity and intrigue in these beautiful beings only gets stronger.. and leaves you wanting more..
Bonaire.. not sure we'll ever leave 😍

Bonaire 96.1FM.. THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC....
Just a little street dancing with Sophie and Ryan before the lock down happened...
Desperately wanted to dance outside the window of this DJ booth for weeks and always missed the moment..
Finally we siezed the moment to have a dance 'with a live' dj... albeit through glass, it felt so good 💃💃💃
Only wished it had been longer than 1 minute..🥰🥰🥰
