- The Clouds 'Hieronymus' from the 1991 single - how good, how good!

- Leyla McCalla 'Tree'. This album just keeps getting better and better!!! 'Sun Without The Heat' (2024)

- Sierra Ferrell with my favourite track from the album (at the moment) 'I Could Drive You Crazy' from 'Trail of Flowers' (2024)

- Carme López Fernández from the most amazing 'Quintela'. We heard the third movement 'Avós. A Pepe e Manuela'. I may be wrong, but I believe Avós may mean 'Granparents' in Galician (Galego?). - Dirty Three - 'This Night' from 2005's Cinder because I haven't picked up a copy of their new album yet.

- Leyla McCalla - 'Scaled to Survive'. I've been so excited to finally get this record and I couldn't contain it to just playing one track!!! Can't wait to really sink my ears into this.

- The Redlands - 'Co***ne'. Bought this on a punt, Released in 2022, NE Vic Band. Best punt I've ever taken on music, you'll be hearing more from this band on waxoid that's for sure.

- Cornershop - 7.20am Jullandar Shere from 1995's 'Woman's Gotta Have It', before their 'commercial break' believe it or not.

- Andy Williams - 'Moon River' the Henry Mancini/Johnny Mercer classic from the 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' movie 1961

- Bonny Light Horseman - 'Keep Me On Your Mind' from their brand spanking new double LP 'Keep Me On Your Mind/See You Free'. This was (obviously?) from the 'Keep Me On Your Mind' half. VEry excited to actually blisten to the whole album.
- The Clouds - 'Anthem' from 1992. I'm going to go through all my records and CDs now to find what I have, sometimes you forget how much you enjoy a band.
- Aselefech Ashine & Getenesh Kebret - 'Kenawtte'. We again travelled to 1968 in the Ethiopian Calendar (1976) Addis Ababa to hear from the album 'Beauties' composed and arranged by Teshome Sisay. Re-released in 2023
- Slack Bird - 'Koitetaan pysyä hengissä'. Been too long since I've played any Slack Bird, this is from their third full length album from 2021 'Hämärään
- Django Reinhardt - 'Georgia on my Mind'. Many versions of this Hoagy Carmichael track, but this remains one of the stand outs.

- From Penguin Café Orchestra's 1993 LP 'Union Cafe', we heard 'Lifeboat (Lovers Rock)' take from the 2017 vinyl re-release
- We then travelled to Glasgow and heard from Mogwai's debut studio album 'Young Team' (1997) with a bit of mellow-noisy-mellow-noisy-mellow... with 'Like Herod'

- From their 6th album 'What I Need' (2023) we heard the beautiful track 'Home' from local 3MDR supporters 2 Inch Tape. This time taken from their vinyl edition of the album released at the start of the year
- Also from their 6th studio album 'Allways', (2018) we heard psych torchbearers Cave with the opening track 'The Juan'
- Although not their first release, we heard from the brilliant album that gave them access to the ears they deserved, we heard 'We're In Yr Corner' from Cornershop's 1997 release 'When I was Born For The 7th Time'
- We again travelled to 1968 in the Ethiopian Calendar (1976) Addis Ababa to hear from Aselefech Ashine & Getenesh Kebret, with the track 'Meche Neow' from the album 'Beauties' composed and arranged by Teshome Sisay. Re-released in 2023
- And then Desmond Dekker with 'Honour Your Mother and Father', because it's Desmond Dekker, and honour your Mother and Father...

- Number 68 of 1500 45's, picked up at one of their gigs that I saw in the early 90's somewhere in Melbourne, we heard the A-Side 'Never' by the inimitable The Meanies
- And from a band that needs to be heard by many more ears, we heard the beautiful track 'Murmuration' from Fawkner Walking Society's self-titled EP of 2018
- Sierra Ferrell's fantastic second record 'Trail of Flowers', we heard 'Chittlin' Cookin' Time in Cheatham County'
- And another artist that deserves all the ears, we heard 'Tail Tale' from Ernest Aines debut LP 'Spiral Bound' (2023)
- 'Where Was the Sun' from Vincey's (Vincent Giarusso of Underground Lovers amongst a multitude of other things) debut LP 'Everything Was Singing... Everything' (2015). Indeed where was the sun today...
- From Niger's Tuareg Les Filles de Illighadad's 2021 LP 'At Pioneer Works' we heard 'Eghass Malan' !!!!!!

- Possibly King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's most known song from their 'Nonagon Infinity' LP (2016) we heard 'Gamma Knife'. It's been a few days, time for another album?
- The remarkable voice of Etta Jones. We heard 'All The Way' from 1960's 'Don't Go To Strangers'
- From an album we heard from last week, we heard from Audience's 1971 'The House On The Hill' with 'You're Not Smilin''
- With a bit of wishful thinking, 'Summer Breeze' from the unmistakable Jackie Mitto

- As always, we started with 'Seven Day Weekend' from Underground Lovers.

- Penguin Café Orchestra gave us 'Scherzo And Trio' from their 5th and final studio album 'Union Cafe' (1993). Released on vinyl for the first time in 2017 to mark 20 years since Simon Jeffes' passing.
- 'Fox Hunt' from Sierra Ferrell's long awaited second album 'Trail of Flowers' from this year.
- We travelled back to 1968 in the Ethiopian Calendar (1976) to hear from Aselefech Ashine & Getenesh Kebret, two singers from Addis Ababa with the track 'Ene Yalant Feker' from the album 'Beauties' composed and arranged by Teshome Sisay. Re-released in 2023 with some fantastic liner notes - https://mississippirecords.bandcamp.com/album/beauties
- And from English Art Rockers 'Audience', we heard 'Raviole' from their 3rd LP from 1971 'The House On The Hill'.

- 'Sinatra Drive Breakdown' from one of my top 17 or so Yo La Tengo albums, 'This Stupid World' from 2023.
- And from that pioneer of jazz and electric guitar sounds Charlie Christian, we heard the track from 1939 'AC - DC Current' recorded with the Benny Goodman Sextet.
- From the absolutely brilliant Les Filles de Illighadad, we heard from their third album of 2021 'At Pioneer Works' the track 'Surbajo'. Astounding guitar playing!

- We heard from drone-psych Chicago based band 'Cave' from their 6th LP from 2018 'Allways' with the track 'Beaux'.
- Continuing with a song week from Adrianne Lenker's 'bright future', we heard 'Donut Seam'.
- And from a very early recording by Underground Lovers, we heard the track 'Ripe' taken from 'Young Blood 3' put out by rooArt in 1991. Still can't find my copy of 'Nice' E.P. though...
- We then heard from DIY acoustic guitar to tape artist out of Maine, Milarepa Dorji with the track 'Frost Mountain' from 'Grimoire' released this year.

- We went back to 1980 to hear Al Di Meola's version of Chick Correa's 'Isfahan' from the 'Splendid Hotel' LP.
- I've played it before, and I'll play it again, we heard 'FuzzBoxGirl' from local supergroup The Silversound.
- And making it to Mali again this week, we heard from Bajourou and their 'Big String Theory' album from 1993 with 'Jodoo'.

Finishing off again with 'She Speeds' from Straitjacket Fits.

- Brand new release (released today), Love Changes Everything II by Dirty Three. Looking forward to seeing them in 2 or 3 weeks
- Dollar Bill Bar from Sierra Ferrell's new one, 'Trail of Flowers', another song a week album for waxoid.
- Gravy Train from (very) local favourites and 3MDR supporters Mast Gully Fellers. Their debut LP 'The Great Divide' was released last year.
- Valentine from Iron & Wine's 'lost' debut album 'Archive Series - Volume No. 5'
- What an amazing opening track from an amazing debut album! Nice and Quiet from the 2017 self-titled album by Bedouine

- From that amazing album 'Savane', we heard the title track from the 2006 album by Ali Farka Touré
- What Will We Do When We Have No Money? from one of LANKUM's four greatest studio albums 'Between the Earth and Sky' (2017).
- The title track from 'Tche Belew' (1977) by the waxoid favourites Hailu Mergia and the Walias.

- We moved to Glasgow with I Chose Horses from Mogwai's 1996 album 'Mr. Beast'. Is this my favourite Mogwai album, probably, but so are the other albums.
- We heard from CAN's 'Tago Mago' (with a constant plea of mine when in the studio) with the track Bring Me Coffee or Tea.
- We cam back home with tghe powerfully beautiful track Think Twice by the invincible Checkerboard Lounge the band! from their 'Sun Sessions, again on Cheersquad.

- Under the Clocks by Weddings, Parties, Anything from Roaring Days. Need anyting else be said except Weddings, Parties, Anything? Maybe just Mick Thomas as well...
- Already Lost from the album that just keeps getting better each track in and each listen, 'bright future' by Adrianne Lenker.
- Kountougi Solo from an anonymous street musician from Niger in 1976ish from the 'Drum, Chant & Instrumental Music - West Africa' album.
- American Dreaming from Sierra Ferrell's brand new 'Trail of Flowers' album. Why did it take me so long to get a copy and play it on air!? No excuses for that. A song a week from this album coming your ears' way.
- From Dave Rawlings Machines' first album 'A Friend of a Friend' from 2009 (but certainly not his first), we heard Sweet Tooth. Pick a favourite from that album, I bet you can't.

- Emulsified from Yo La Tengo's 'Fakebook' with a song a week.
- From their absolute classic album 'Songs of Praise' from 1990, we heard the brilliant Hold Some More by AFRICAN HEAD CHARGE.
- And from a waxoid favourite we heard Hora Moldovenesca from Taraf de Haidouks and their 2007 album 'Mǎskaradǎ'.
- Man-Size Sextet from PJ Harvey's 1993 album 'Rid of Me' - it was good back then, and just keeps getting better!
- Then we heard from an album that I haven't familiarised myself with, we heard The Diplomat from Dan Hicks and The Hot Licks 2009 album 'Tangled Tales'. Time to listen more!
- The from RSD 2024 - Mejor De Los Nuggetz '60s Garage and Psych, we heard from Los Locos del Ritmo out of Mexico, forming in 1957, and their version of Hey Joe.

- And from their first LP 'This Nightmare' (1989) we heard The Eyeball Mutiny from RatCat
- Pink Frost (1984 single) from Dunedin band The Chills taken from 'Heavenly Pop Hits' compilation. You can never get enough of The Chills for you ears.
- Pulled Out of the Market, from Ondara's powerfully beautiful 'Folk n' Roll Vol 1: Tales of Isolation'.
- Duma Ma Yelema from Boubacar TRAORE's great great LP from 2003, 'Je chanterai pour toi'

- Egzio by a new artist to my ears, Esy Tadesse, formerly know as Etsegenet Mekonnen. From her 'Ahadu' 10 track EP released on FPE Records . Originally from Addis Ababa now based in L.A. Full album released 31st May.
- The Shearing's Not For You, the traditional song played and reimagined by the innovatively amazing Yorkston Thorne Khan from 2020's 'Navarasa : Nine Emotions' album

- See You In The Movies from J Mascis' Elastic Days. How do you pick a favourite from this album!? Just had to start at the beginning to remove the problem of choosing.
- Goldfinch Yodel, a further nod to Penguin Cafe Orchestra from the beautiful 'Rain Before Seven...' by Penguin Cafe. And that signals the final track from the album that we've been hearing a track a week from.
- Stick In The Mud from Smog's (a moniker of Bill Callahan) 'Julius Caesar' album.
- Goodbye My Darling from one of my all time favourite albums from 2012, 'Ground of it's Own' by the rather eclectically talented Sam Lee
- And who doesn't love Rhys Muldoon's first album 'I'm Not Singing' album from 2011! We heard Apples and Bananas to help share a very important message. When's your third album being released!?

- Didn't Rain from a Sister Rosetta Tharpe compilation I picked up off BandCamp

- La Carta by Los Mustang from the 2024 RSD release 'Mejor De Los Nuggetz '60s Garage and Psych' underground Spanish language bands. A cover of "The Letter" written by Wayne Carson and made famous by Alex Chilton's vocals in The Box Tops 1967
- Indian Summer by the seminal Beat Happening from their 1988 Jamboree album
- Recognise from the 30th Anniversary release on record of 1994's 'Dream It Down' by the inimitable Underground Lovers

Nit Khair Mansan Sohnia Main Teri - by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan from 1988's 'Shahen-Shah' album that I used to have on CD, but lost in a share house... fortunately reissued on record! with bonus tracks

Savane - from Ali Farka Touré's final solo album of the same name. Posthumously released in 2006. A mainstay in my listening rotation.
Moanin' - by Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers 1958. What more can be said except - Art Blakey!
Buzz - B.Fleischmann from his third album 'A Choir of Empty Beds' (2000). One of the albums that absolutely opened up and changed my musical world after hearing it way back then in an independent record store when I lived in town.

Find Your Feet - from the brilliantly beautiful 'Rain Before Seven...' album from last year by Penguin Cafe
Ridge Rider - some more Judee Sill from her beautiful self titled album from 1971
Hell's Angel's - Johnny Bond from 1966 and released on 2024's RSD Hillbillies In Hell - Whiskey Is The Devil.
Kek Alghalm - Tinariwen's latest musical gift to us all. Last year's 'Amatssou' LP
Michael & His Dad - from one of my favourite Canadians, Ron Sexsmith's 2011 album 'Long Player Late Bloomer' that I picked up as a RSD 2022 reissue
Houlihans At The Holiday Inn - from another of my favourite Canadians, Colter Wall from his 'Western Swing & Waltzes and other Punchy Songs' from 2020. Another mainstay in my record rotation.
May It Always Be - I can't go more than a few weeks without listening to this album (Ease Down The Road 2001) and all the albums released either side of this one. This release was under the moniker of Bonnie "Prince" Billy, or is it Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, et al?

Bardo Pond are an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1991, and who are currently signed to London-based label Fire Records. The current members are Michael Gibbons (guitar), John Gibbons (guitar), Isobel Sollenberger (flute and vocals), Clint Takeda (bass guitar) and Jason Kourkounis (drums). Bardo Pond's music is often classified as space rock, acid rock, post-rock, shoegazing, noise or psychedelic rock. Some Bardo Pond album titles have been derived from the names of esoteric psychedelic substances. Their sound has been likened to Pink Floyd, Spacemen 3 and My Bloody Valentine amongst others.
