Quiet Storm!

Like a tiger;
With quiet anger!
Stealthily and silently;
Till it's timely!

Biding their time
with magazine smiles,
frustrated they are,
because they lack!

Land of plenty;
Many are thirsty,
masses kwashiorkored
since they lack nurture!

Oblivious of mass suffering,
few haves go partying!
Our Rome is burning,
powerful are fiddling!

Who'll prevent quiet storm
from its snaky venom?
Solution very pedestrian:
Masses should dignity earn!

Father's Day...

We are good men;
We are good men;
We're taking care of our wives;
We're taking care of children;
We're good men!

Really?

It can't be argued that most societies are patriarchal. And it's reflected in the social, political, economic and cultural structures where men are relatively in control.

Men have even gone a step further by creating the manosphere, which is a collection of websites, blogs, and online forums promoting masculinity, misogyny, and opposition to feminism.

While it's generally acceptable for men to sow their wild oats, the term is not gender-specific. So, if boys become men, how are fathers bringing up the boys who'll eventually become the men and fathers of tomorrow?

Historically, there have been more male leaders than female. And how are they faring? The answer is not in some textbook; it is obvious.

Looking at the state of our world today: it is largely the result of men's endeavours or misdemeanours that have led us to where we are.

Since men are already like stockfish, which can not be broken, it's high time we started concentrating on training the boys who will be men tomorrow.

I get swept by razzle;

Blinded by dazzle,

readily forgetting

where I'm standing!

We'll have plenty of potato,

so says manifesto;

I'm persuaded,

I'll be uplifted!

While asking for votes,

politicians gave loads

of tons of promises

and infrastructure for tommies!

Not needing to be encouraged -

no one could change

my influenced resolve

to my myopic choice!

Expecting an action,

of their prediction!

Some uncouth fellow;

opens their trap;

tired, famished, undernourished;

in exasperation, replies,

look at my physique!

Babies in womb;

if not in apparent denial,

know most of our problems;

stem from the roots!

With situation unfounded;

human lives scattered;

we imbibe petulantly;

fabulous absurdities!

Deceits are our norm;

no wonder we're serial;

victims of fool's gambit -

Comfort zone!

Sango can be heard

thundering in the skies;

Oya, winding and storming

here on earth!

Ogun, powering furnace

in forge!

Yet, we turn deaf ear!

What's more,

we turn blind eye,

pretending not to see!

If we did see

or never lost our auditory system,

did we also lose

our sense of speech?

We continue living in pretence,

enjoying dessert,

in our

uncomfortable comfort zones!

We are inhabiting

our fool's paradise!

Obviously in denial

of our world

being in shambles!

Can we have a United Nations

without united peoples

where

respect for human dignity

justice

peace

and,

freedom of movement

reign?

We are having

wars, both armed and trade

inflation

hunger

maiming

and killings!

Human traffickers

slavers

trade warriors

murderers

and

crooks recycled as politicians

have taken over!

We seem to be reliving

Noah's days!

It might be good we remember

we just need a crazy man

to send us into

apocalypse

by "pressing"

the nuke's button!
