I find hateful rhetoric very troubling but not because of the reasons that many do. I find that hate is almost always not truly hate but usually a combination of fear and ignorance. This comment greeted me when I woke up this morning. It was posted in the comments section on a video I made about shunning. I actually cried legitimately in the video because I was reflecting on the loss of my family.
I feel bad for this person. They must have come to the conclusion that my heartfelt expression was an attack on their values and ideals. Me legitimately crying about losing everyone I ever had in my life and posting about it online was powerful. It forces people to pause and examine the situation. I’m disappointed to have received this message, but I’m not losing sleep over it. Perhaps in time this person will reconsider what they said, when it is their child or family member that is being shunned. Until then I feel it’s best for people like me to show patience and not respond back with hate. Respond in kindness, or not at all. Remember LOVE will always triumph over hate. Love you all! 💙
