Ah but the good news is…I AM the mum I imagined I would be…and then some! I mean it took a minute, but I think I can say that now. Can’t think of much I wouldn’t have a crack at 😜
In fact, I realised recently that I did not one, but two things that would have terrified me once, with no ill effects - bouldering and badminton!💪🏻
So don’t give up! And to help navigate the likes of prolapse, incontinence and pelvic pain, especially after babies, there are FIFTY episodes of the Why Mums Don’t Jump podcast available to listen to now, for FREE, wherever you get your podcasts! Link in bio.

A group of MPs has just published a report about women’s health. It blames pervasive stigma, a lack of education and ‘medical misogyny’ for poor awareness of gynaecological and urogynaecological conditions.
The Women and Equalities Committee report says gynaecological care has been deprioritised and that there’s been little progress since the Women’s Health Strategy was published in 2022. It calls on the government to provide the funding to transform services💰
It’s another damning assessment of where we’re at and, whilst it’s good to keep it in the headlines, I’m starting to get a bit tired of hearing the same stuff over and over.
Stuff that we’ve been talking about for 6 years on here.
Stuff that’s in the podcast.
Stuff that’s in the book.
HOWEVER, change won’t happen unless we spell out the problem, right? So I’m trying to stay hopeful that recommendations will be followed and things will start to improve. We keep shouting until it’s done.

What a day that was!
Why Mums Don’t Jump: Our Stories, Our Health exhibition took place in Falmouth a couple of weeks ago 🧡 💜

We celebrated the Why Mums Don’t Jump animation - made by students at Falmouth Uni, decorated cupcakes, and danced into the evening!
Wonderful to be part of it all. Thanks to for organising, to the fabulous for your creative genius and everyone who contributed.
Special shout out to for these fabulous images 📷

Just came across this review from earlier this year 🥹
It puts a massive, heartfelt smile on my face every time I see that someone has read/listened to the book and been moved in some way, or even just ‘gets it’.
Thank you for writing it - the reviews really help others to find the book 🙌🏻

Ever felt lost in a maze of pelvic floor health advice? One minute you’re clueless, and the next you’re deep in a social media spiral of dos and don’ts. Mostly don’ts! 😛
In this episode, I’m joined by US-based pelvic health expert and host of the Active Mom Podcast, Dr. Carrie Pagliano (aka Carrie Pagliano Physical Therapy), for a spot of myth-busting.
We dive into:
💡 The evolving landscape of pelvic health
💡 How hormones might affect your pelvic floor & whether vaginal oestrogen could help
💡 The million dollar question: to kegel or not to kegel?

🎉 Season 5 Finale! 🎉
I’m so excited to bring you this very special episode with two trailblazers of pelvic health in sport:

⚽️ Melanie Leupolz, the former Germany international and Chelsea midfielder who returned to top-flight football just months after having her son and…

⚽️ the lovely pelvic health physio Emma Brockwell (aka PhysioMum) who played a crucial role in Melanie’s recovery.
We talk about Melanie’s journey from pregnancy through to the World Cup; about the unwavering support she had from former Chelsea manager, Emma Hayes; and about how a focus on women’s health could be game-changing for elite female athletes.

Does anyone else have to hide their hand mirror? 😂
🎙️ It’s podcast day! And POP Club is BACK!
I met ‘Skye & Jess’ here on Instagram in 2018. We have pelvic organ prolapse and birth injury in common…and we keep each other smiling through thick and thin. At one point I convinced them to speak, anonymously, on the podcast and the rest is history!
You can hear us reunite in this week’s (typically chaotic) episode, where there’s frustration over hospital care, nerve damage (pudendal neuralgia) and a missed birth injury. We discuss symptoms - old and new - and Jess makes a new prolapse friend…sort of.

✨ Meet Hayley Schoenberg, this week’s utterly fabulous podcast guest! 🌟
Hayley’s from Hull but now lives in Hamburg, Germany, with her wife and 3 year old daughter. She discovered she had a prolapse whilst going through fertility treatment for a second child.
It’s something that’s had a big impact on her life, and on her work as a dancer, burlesque performer and hypnobirthing teacher.
Hayley tells me about her journey to find the support she needed, about pessaries and how she’s feeling about her second pregnancy. We talk about mindset, pelvic health physio and the German healthcare system. And how to handle yourself when someone gets chippy in a grocery store 😂

A lot has changed since I recorded that first episode, including:

💫 I know I’m not alone
💫 I have a better understanding of my body
💫 I know where to go for help
💫 I can lift heavy stuff and run
💫 I can say vagina/vulva without blushing (usually)
💫 My prolapse no longer consumes me in the way it once did
I’m still angry though. Not so much for myself, but angry that we don’t give women the information they need about their own flipping bodies...or the support they need to heal postpartum. Yeah, that’s still there 😠
Thank you for listening to the podcast and for sharing. It’s a wonderful thing when it reaches someone who needs to hear it 🎙️

One thing I’ve learnt from five seasons of the podcast is that it’s hard to talk about pelvic floor dysfunction without mentioning birth trauma.
It’s something that comes up time and again - women who’ve had an experience of childbirth that has knocked them for six.
But how often do we really stop and reflect on what happened? And is that something worth considering?
Illiyin Morrison is a birth trauma specialist midwife and an independent birth debrief facilitator. She supports women who’ve had a difficult pregnancy, birth or postpartum experience.
In this week’s episode we discuss what a birth debrief looks like, who it’s for and why it may - or may not - be a useful tool. We explore how we define trauma, how we begin to pick up the pieces, and how sometimes just feeling heard is enough.

So grateful to listener Erica Macdonald for being her brave and brilliant self in this week’s episode 🎧
I think we can sometimes underestimate what it takes to share these stories on a podcast, but I know how important it is that we do 💪🏻
Erica and I talk about birth injury and severe tears - a common cause of bowel incontinence (aka faecal incontinence), her struggle to get the support she needs, and the idea that we can wear our truth as armour👷🏼‍♀️
