President William Ruto on Tuesday signed into law the IEBC (Amendment) Bill, 2024 during a ceremony held at the KICC.
Azimio leaders Raila Odinga and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka were all present during the signing.
National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang'ula among other leaders were also present.
The bill passed by Parliament is based on the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of Adan, our dear friend and family. As a talented graphic designer and an integral part of the Dust23 magazine team, his creativity, passion, and dedication were unparalleled.
To our community, friends, his family, and all who are grieving this immeasurable loss, we extend our deepest condolences. CELEBRATING CREATIVITY: Turkana Artist Culture Exchange Program at Startup Lions.
Startup Lions had the privilege of hosting the Turkana Artist Culture Exchange Program at our campus.
This inspiring event brought together a diverse group of artists from across Turkana for several days of collaboration and learning. The program included musicians, photographers, videographers, models, illustrators, and many more talented individuals.
We were also honored to welcome renowned artists from Nairobi, such as , who inspired our local talents with his insights and experiences in music.
The exchange fostered a rich environment of creativity and growth, allowing artists to learn from each other and hone their skills.
Additionally, a good number of Learning Lions graduates were actively involved in the event, contributing to the dynamic atmosphere and showcasing their own talents.
It was a truly enriching experience for everyone involved, highlighting the incredible artistic potential within the Turkana community.

SUBJECT:RESPONSE TO THE PRESIDENT'S INVITATION TO DISCUSS GEN-Z MATTERS,
Gen-Z, express it's heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives during our recent protests against the punitive and draconian finance bill. We stand in solidarity with those who were affected and reaffirm our commitment in ensuring justice is done .
It is important to note that ;from one of the president's state of the nation address ,He referred peaceful protestants as CRIMINALS something that undermines and threatens our security posing them to danger. This reference makes us doubt this invitation because at the end of the day no government mediates with CRIMINALS .
We turn down the invitation because of various reasons namely:
1. Lack of Genuine Engagement: The president’s past comments reflect a fundamental misunderstanding of our movement thus an invitation might not address our grievances and concerns .
2. No Central Leadership: Our movement thrives on collective responsibility so we don't have a representative or leader.
3. Demand for Transparent Dialogue: We call for open, transparent forums where all youths can participate and be heard, not closed-door meetings that encourages self gains .
4. Focus on Issues, Not Optics: We urge the government to prioritize substantive changes over symbolic meetings. Addressing the concerns about the finance bill and its impact on our future should be the focus, not mere appearances.
OUR PROPOSAL
1. Public Forums: Organize open public forums where any youth can voice his/her concerns and ideas without fear of repression.
2. Policy Revisions: Commit to reviewing and revising the finance bill in consultation with economic experts and youth representatives.
3. Use X spaces where Kenyans and the govt will only spend 100MB of data and everybody will be confident in asking the right questions. This will save the costs of hosting 100 people for chai

PRONOUNCEMENT OF BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS FY 2024/25
Pursuant to Section 132(2) of the Public Finance Management Act and Standing Orders No. 24 (1) & 232 (1) (2) & (3) of the Turkana County Assembly, the CECM Finance, Dr. Michael Eregae has this morning made public pronouncement of the Budget Highlights and revenue-raising measures for the County Government for FY 2024/25.
The CECM Finance stated that the total revenue for FY 2024/25 is estimated to be KES 19.7 billion. This includes an equitable share of approximately KES 13.65 billion expected from the National Government and conditional grants from the National Government, donors and development partners amounting to KES 1.3 billion.
The budget spending estimates for FY 2024/25 are projected to be KES 19.7 billion. Out of the total expenditure, KES 11.0 billion (or 56.03%) will be spent on recurrent expenses, while KES 8.7 billion (or 43.97%) is allocated for development projects, with the the following departments having substantial allocations;
(a) Public Service Administration & Disaster Management KES. 5.9 billion
(b)Finance & Economic planning KES. 5.1 billion
(c) Health & Sanitation Services KES.1.6 billion
(d)Education, Sports and Social Protection; KES. 1.2 billion
(e) Agriculture, Livestock Development & Fisheries KES. 1.1 billion
Dr. Eregae emphasized a conscious and deliberate effort to allocate funds across all 30 wards for the implementation of development projects identified through public participation engagements. Each ward has been allocated KES 50 million for these projects.
The CECM Finance indicated that Own Source Revenue is expected to generate KES 320 million from internal sources with KES 4.44 billion projected as unspent funds carried forward from this financial year to the next.
