A worthy film to watch this year.

Today is my birthday and what better way is it to bring you my pilot documentary "Last of the Wild" with Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones)! Please share, comment, and spread the short film!

Film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7JuSdtjj_E&t=6s

Last of the Wild - pilot documentary follows adventurer Fredrik Sträng together with actor Kristofer Hivju as they explore how Whanganui River became the first river in the world to be granted legal personhood status. The news was met with tears — it reflected over 160 years of fighting for recognition of the rights of the river.

Only 23 % of wilderness remains on earth. Due to human impact, it may soon be gone. Can granting mountains, forests, and rivers legal personhood push companies, legislators, and governments to protect the last of the wild?

Our ambition with Last of the Wild is to make several more and longer documentaries therefore we are looking for investors and publishers who want to be part of this timely and urgent journey.

Vision statement
To save the last wilderness before it’s gone forever – a prerequisite for storing carbon, securing biodiversity, restoring balance to the biome – and reclaiming beauty to the planet.

Mission
To protect one wilderness area after another by establishing sanctuaries–free zones from human impact and where nature can roam freely.

Why?
Why we are doing this? That’s like asking, why do you love your mother? We come from mother nature, we are totally dependent on nature and our survival as a species relies explicitly on operational ecological functions.

As President Lyndon B. Johnson said: "We must leave future generations a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning."

While western climbers are famed for their great feats, Sherpa climbers are some of the best. They have a natural ability to weather high-altitude oxygen levels and an almost unnatural ability to climb relatively effortlessly compared to western climbers. These are 4 of the world’s greatest Sherpa climbers who are still alive.

Wendy Ong: My introduction to climbing came by way of ski mountaineering. Once the ropes started to come out, I figured it would be sensible for me to learn how to actually use this gear. I quickly got sucked into the world of Yosemite Valley rock climbing and other trad climbing areas in the Sierra Nevadas, Idaho, Wyoming, and British Columbia.
How did you start climbing?

“Certain that Bob had me, I unclipped from the anchors, leaned back – and then free-fell nearly 200 feet to the ground.” I kept telling myself, “Don’t close your eyes Wendy, don’t close…

Alex has been the center of criticism for a long time from both the climbing and non-climbing communities. It’s never seemed to have made a difference in how he views his climbing. After all, a man who drops out of UC Berkeley to pursue climbing full-time isn’t someone who can easily be influenced by public opinion.
What do you think? He does it for attention or for passion?

After an unfortunate expedition, Denis Urubko decides to end his mountaineering career. He leaves the scene with 22 ascents to 8000ers. In 2009, he completed the 14.8000ers without supplemental oxygen. His climbing career has seen him carve new routes on Broad Peak, Manaslu, Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Gasherbrum II, the latter two he achieved solo.
What's more important - health or success?

Denis Urubko is a stellar mountaineer and one of the most qualified candidates to succeed in a K2 Winter Ascent. His history attempting this feat on K2 goes back 17 years. Without a summit, he ends…

We definitely agree with Alex's words: "If there’s one thing I’ve learned from climbing over the years it that to improve in any way you have to get outside your comfort zone. For me that normally means climbing new styles or trying intimidating routes but sometimes getting outside of my comfort zone means having hard conversations or thinking about things that I would rather ignore."
