Hello everyone!!! Long caption I’m sorry but it’s been a tough week and I wanted to check in and update you guys! I’m announcing the Season 2 Finale on Monday, which will be me reflecting on the podcast/project as a whole, answering questions, and sharing some fun memories from recording. While this season has been twice the work, it’s also been twice as rewarding and I feel really honored to have worked with such inspiring artists over the course of my journey with Both Sides of the Barricade. I never would have thought it would grow like this in such a short amount of time. Thank you all so much for listening, supporting, and sticking with me the past two semesters. I will continue putting out episodes, I just need a second to breathe (let’s be honest I can’t stay away too long). For the next week or so I’ll be focusing on schoolwork and my job, I’m really excited to finish my degree and start my career, love you all so much!!! 🤍

He was the lead singer of a cover band in the 90’s and he’s usually my concert buddy, so we have plenty of stories to tell and a mutual love for many artists. For Black History Month, I created a playlist of some of my favorite songs by black artists (link is in my bio!) and I wanted to share some works by one of my favorite black visual artists, Kerry James Marshall. I love the celebratory and bold nature of his works, and I find his use of color just exquisite. His works celebrate black culture and bring to light social injustices and violence still facing black people today. In order, this is “Untitled”, “School of Beauty, School of Culture”, and “The Lost Boys”.

I wanted to take a moment to honor SOPHIE, a true revolutionary in music production and an icon of the LGBTQ+ community. The music and art she created, and the community that surrounded it, was fueled by nothing but joy and acceptance and celebration. She will be remembered always for her innovations in music and the space she created for so many after her. SOPHIE’s music was very important to me and many others. Take the day to celebrate the art and legacy she has given us. 🤍
