𝑫𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌?

The answer is Yes and No, both.

First, it depends upon the way the receiver looks at the giver.

If the receiver has an acceptance of the giver as an authority to comment on his performance, then chances are that the receiver might take it seriously in the first place and may take some steps to act upon later.

But if there is no acceptance, then not only that the feedback won’t work but it may even make the receiver more blunt and would also create alienation between the two.

Secondly, if the receiver could see through the intent of the giver and finds it genuine for his betterment, then he might accept it and if possible, act upon it.

On the other hand, if the receiver smells malicious or politically colored intent, then that feedback will definitely fail to be delivered and lead to hostility between the two instead.

There is a third scenario. Many of the times, the feedback process is too formal. It’s just paperwork for respective departments.

In such cases, the receiver clearly sees through the formality and ignores the message in it if any.

Now, let’s say, the receiver looks at the assessor as an authority and also has the acceptance about receiving the inputs.

But what if he disagrees with the findings?

This happens especially with quite senior positions whose performance is being appraised by a third party consultant. Let’s, say, a 360 degree feedback tells him, ‘He is arrogant and needs to change’! Naturally, there will be a lot of noise while accepting it! There will be counter justification on how people need to be pushed and challenged to achieve great results and how thin a line there is between arrogance and aggression!

So what's the way out?

The whole process of Performance Feedback needs to adopt the framework of ‘𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞’.

One needs to build rapport, understand the others through active listening, embrace individual differences if any, strive to build trust and then cultivate influence to drive your points through! Business psychologist Dr. Adam Bandelli has beautifully described this in his book ‘Relational Intelligence’.

This is of course, if one indeed needs to bring in some positive change in the people-performance. If that’s not the need, then all the best to the routine, formal, stereotype standard processes of feedbacks!

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐆𝐏𝐓- 𝐀 𝐍𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞!

So, I asked, “Can you tell me the top10 challenges of leadership?” And it said,”Sure, here are they…” and there was a perfect list of those 10 real life nuances.
I asked further, “Any specific Relationship issues?” and in the context of my earlier question, it said,”Sure…” and presented the perfectly relevant people-side issues of the leadership.
I wanted it to write a code in HTML and CSS to customize the header of my website. It did it. And it worked well!
Then it wrote a poem on a broken heart and also an advice on how to handle it. A love letter for proposing a romantic date. A perfect application draft for a job in Amazon for a role needing 3 plus years of experienced candidate with commerce background. And so on.

But then, as I asked about the Russia-Ukraine war, or when I asked about who ‘created’ Corona Virus and similar sensitive questions, it went on the backfoot! It behaved more cautiously, diplomatically and preferred not to offer any conclusive answer!

Then I got into other, broader areas. I asked about the existence of alien life. I enquired if there is life after death. And I posed some subtle spiritual inquiries. Every time the response was a bit bookish. More theoretical. Rather, almost as manipulative as Wikipedia is in such cases!

As I dwelled deeper, I started getting the clarity of where it was going.

The bots like ChatGPT, just like any other technologies, are here to take the load of materialistic applications of knowledge, expressions and solutioning business off our shoulders to make us free to pursue and handle higher, non-materialistic levels of our life!
They are here to push us out of the mundane, repetitive, mechanical, robotic way of living and make space for us to discover deeper areas of the abstract world of possibilities, probabilities and holistic predictions.
And we should allow them to take that load off from us. In fact, we can be more creative to make the bots more powerful so that they fetch us time to search for inner bliss! Let them toil to create materialistic happiness while we strive to discover the joy of maneuvering the complex landscape of more comprehensive issues of humanity, like resolving war situations, establishing peace, managing relationships and evolving new, better social structures in the era of star-travels and so on.

As Dr. Bruce Lipton proposes in his book ,”The Biology Of Belief”, the next evolution of humans is the evolution of consciousness and not the physiological one.

The bots like ChatGPT create a definitive nudge to push us to evolve towards the higher levels of consciousness

What makes people leave their job?
One obvious reason is money. But the survey tells us this to be just 30% of all the triggers to leave.
The real reason is: People factor!
People make people change their jobs, next to money.
It may be your boss, or your colleagues or your peers. They create a culture around you. When it starts to become suffocating, you start getting dis-engaged. And the moment you get another opportunity, you quit.
And when exactly this suffocation starts? It is when you start perceiving some threat from somebody who may influence your career.
And from where does the threat come? It is from the struggle to survive!
Then, where does the struggle start? It is when you start losing your alignment with people.
Then, how to restore this alignment back?
Well, here starts a plethora of corporate trainings on Alignment, Team building, Leadership and so on!
Does it solve the problem radically for you? No.
Then, what is the radical solution? To work seriously on your own mindset and more than that, your Energy-set!

While adopting a new Leadership style called ‘Relational Leadership’, there is a general ‘fear’ of getting stuck within some ‘emotional entanglements’ with people, especially the 'friends', who really need to be pushed to perform.
This happens mainly because a relational leadership style is typically perceived as a ‘softer’ dealing with people. But it is not.
A relationship is an exchange of multiple values, both, ‘soft’ and ‘hard’!
Now, which values? And how to control them?
Here exactly the research on our Energy centers offers us some strategy.
We now know that each of the 7 major energy centers express some distinctive psychological values. If we understand them, then we have a framework. As Relational Leader then we could use this 'values framework' and switch the hats as per the situation.
We could also learn some techniques to work on the energy centers to play the value exchange more carefully.
Once that, we could strike a good balance between the two leadership styles- The Taskmaster style and the Relationship Caring style. Then we have a good Relational Leader.

Or, do you want to align with your boss, but not be able to understand what makes him tick?
Then do this simple exercise.
Close your eyes.
Be aware of your 7 major energy centers.
Think of the person.
Sense, which of your centers feel more sensitive?
Now, here is the twist.
Your centers which become sensitive while thinking about the person are also the centers of that person which are expressing his/her needs ‘towards’ you!
So, let’s say, the sensitive centers are ‘BASE’ and ‘SOLAR’.
Then what the person needs is a sense of security and some appreciation from you!

It has the stories of healing people’s ‘future’! So, opposite to “Past Life Regression”, it is the “Future Life Progression”. Go there, see if it has some problem, correct it and come back.

This reminds me of Dr. Joe Dispenza’s meditation approach - Create Your Future You!
So, essentially, we are not ‘creating’ anything new. But we are first tuning to ‘possibility points’ in the future and connect the dots to weave out a story of our choice!
On the same lines, there is some research (and I don’t remember where I have read it) on the growth of flowers. The gist of it is: A bud grows into a flower only if there ‘already’ is a ‘flower in its future space’! So, the experimenters called this the ‘future pull’!
In our context, if there is a ‘Future You’, it pulls the ‘Present You’ towards it…!
Now, you might wonder, what it has to do with Relationships?
Just think! If when you tap and invoke 'your' future you, it means you are also invoking the 'associations' with this potential 'you', part of which are your relationships in your life. And if you invoke the 'wrong' associations, you are inviting wrong relationships in your life or else, you yourself are literally 'building' your relationship issues or conflicts in your life here!

Relationships are essentially the exchange of our energy fields which in turn are governed by our Neural Centers. Relational Intelligence is the way we dynamically discern and align with various people equations to be more productive, prosperous and eventually live a life of purpose. So, building an RI means developing the skill to work on our Neuro Energies. And there are methods, ways and techniques which we can learn and practice.
